My own feeling is that homosexuality does not affect me personally, at all. What other people do (as consenting adults) is none of my business. If you think that an angry god is going to smite us all with lightning bolts because we don't persecute gays, I would say that you are right off of your feckin' head. If there is a God who created us, he also created lots of homosexuals. What ever business gays have between their practises and biblical writings is between them and their gods and it does not involve the rest of us at all.

Fun fact.

The more boys a woman has the higher the rate the body is about to "feminize" a fetus. The odds of one of your boys being gay goes up with every baby born.

So at least for gay males being born such is hardly a choice.

That all being said, adultery was also a capital offense, yet Jesus defended a woman convicted of it and about to be executed by saying, 'So when they continued asking him, he lifted up himself, and said unto them, He that is without sin among you, let him first cast a stone at her.' (John 8:7). Religion is a funny thing. People can twist it to have it say the opposite of what was being said. The entire deification of Christ, and Trititarianism went completely against what Christ himself taught.

it was also strictly against Jewish law and it led to executions in Roman Judea (not the Trititarianism part. That came much later).
