Gunnair Gunnair: EyeBrock EyeBrock: Oh Gunny! Why so angry all the time? Yeah, EB, let's go back and look at the bad cop bashing thread and see who's angry all of the time. The flippant retort is telling. Give us a break Gun....you have the balls to claim I'm grumpy when you are, by far, the most outspoken grumpy prick on this forum. You spend your time running from post to post telling people they're wrong and when they don't agree with you, you start into your usual tirade of personal insults or attempts to paint the OP as less intelligent than you. You may not see it but we all do. You argue for the sake of arguing. You get off on it. You enjoy insulting people and more specifically, their intelligence. You enjoy talking down to people. You claim others are always angry when in fact, the only likely angry person in all of this is you..

Yogi Yogi: Brenda Brenda: Yogi Yogi: And Brenda, GO BACK and read my original post carefully, then drop the feigned indignation. It's beneath you.
Question: How many of the Posters on this thread have included in their circle of close personal friends, and fishing buddies, an Official of an ALBERTA PUBLIC SCHOOL SYSTEM?
That many! WOW! I thought so! I did. "IMMIGRANTS only want to freebies and don't care" What people seem to forget, is that I am an immigrant. There are many with me. Many hard working, Canada loving, would-love-to-see-improvement-at-some-points immigrants. Over and over and over again, whenever something happens, it is the IMMIGRANTS (which includes me, whether you like it or not) that "want it". Really? So because that one kid is allergic to peanuts, the whole school goes peanut free, but hey, he wasn't born here, so it is "THE IMMIGRANTS"? Seriously, it is insulting. How many people from small towns are on here, so how big is the chance they are either related or close friends to anyone on any school board? Exactly. My words exactly... they- 'many immigrant groups-' A lot of people are part of your "many immigrant groups". Specify. "If the shoe fits" is not enough. "If you are not part of those groups, I am not talking about you" is still insulting. You mean Muslims? Say so. You mean Chinese? Say so. Or do you just mean the specific person that you KNOW, in your small town? Also, the story said "Some opt-outs were based on religion". WHAT religion? Any idea? Nope, it MUST be Muslims. Is that what you are trying to say? Then say so. Don't be political correct in your insults and then tell me to suck it up, because apparently, since I am a white European, it is not about me. (which does not matter, btw) So, to throw your insult right back at you, since it is for "religious reasons" ALL RELIGIOUS PEOPLE, regardless of their religion, are assholes for wanting to opt out. Yay Atheists!

Gunnair Gunnair: Yogi Yogi: Gunnair Gunnair: The news reports mentions nothing of immigrants but you do. Are you suggesting your drinking buddy is feeding you a line that this mandate is due to their protests? Okay...drop everything. The name drop ends the discussion. Now I understand where you got your point of view from. ASSUMPTIONS! Since you didn't hear about it 'in the news' it ain't so!And, I don't have even 1 'drinking buddy'! Actually, my point of view was questioning the assumptions that this was inspired by immigrants in the first place. Who said it was the immigrants fault? My view is that we, as in those who are here already, have collectively failed to ensure the torch is passed to newcomers through education. You just seem to be looking to 'get your own back' from the cop bashing thread where you showed your arse. It's a bit unbecoming. You are better than that Gunny.

You raised the spectre of immigrants for what reason, EB? What did immigrants have to do with this? Nothing in the story suggested such yet suddenly assumptions were made by the usual suspects that that was the case and you hopped on that bandwagon. Speaking of unbecoming, EB, it is rather unbecoming to rail against rash judgments against a cop in one thread simply because of your vested interest than coming into this one and doing the very same thing you dislike. Eyebrock Eyebrock: The rush to judge is very illuminating. As you say, EB, tut tut.

I think I'll just leave this right now. There doesn't seem any point in further engaging you.
Cheers!

Brenda Brenda: Yogi Yogi: ^^^ The question is, Brenda, "Do you include yourself in my -"many immigrant groups- statement"? It does not matter. I include myself in "immigrant". So, If I had said " some immigrants are just plain bad-asses, nothing but trouble, drug dealers & pimps, child molesters, etc, etc.", because I used the word 'immigrants' you would feign indignation to that statement as well? Get over yourself!

Maybe it is time YOU got over yourself and actually stop insulting whole groups.

Some immigrants do scummy rotten things. Some immigrants demand too much accommodation. (Of course some native born people do too). There is no indication anywhere that in this case it was immigrants that pushed for this law to be inserted in the school act.
But, Yogi, you seem to know differently, 'cause your buddy told you so. So what did he tell you? I'm dying to know what scummy immigrant group demanded this law be enacted?
I don't think schools should be holding remembrance day ceremonies at all, since by definition they can't be held on remembrance day. Instead, spend some class time before the day presenting the relevant material. Which it sounds like they do anyway.

SO fantastic. Keep your selfish attitude up, you would really make a lot of friends that way. Especially since you expect everyone to think as selfish as you do, and when they do, you bash them.
