DrCaleb, thank you for replying. I was asking about long-range missiles launched from Russia.
I don't know much about those, but you also asked "Where is Russia launching from? What would it take for Ukraine to take them out?" and I did know about rocket artillery they are using throughout the country, and Ukraine drones that were making short work of those emplacements. I go with my strengths.

Winnipegger Winnipegger:
My understanding is the Ukrainian defence force has kept tanks and artillery far enough from Kyiv that they're out of range. Russians are using missiles because that's the only thing with enough range to reach Kyiv.
The one hypersonic missile that they claimed to have launched was reported to hit an empty farmers' field. In the fog of war, such things must be taken with a salt lick, so it might be true. But there aren't many reports of hypersonic missile use outside of that. And those would have to be launched from within Russia. Not very portable.
Winnipegger Winnipegger:
I had assumed that meant rocket propelled artillery would be out of range too. Is that not right? Are Russians using rocket propelled artillery on Kyiv?
Yes, they seem to use those everywhere, but as Scape wrote, they are hard to resupply. And drones are making them less frequent.

But they do have a 200 - 300km range, and there are plenty of Russians that close to Kiev.
Winnipegger Winnipegger:
The attack earlier today on Lviv is reported to be cruise missiles.
I also heard reports on the news that many of them were intercepted with anti-missile systems.

Russia can't afford to use many of those either.
