From the Babylon Bee:

Democrats Call For Flags To Be Flown At Half-Mast To Grieve Death Of Soleimani

$1:
WASHINGTON, D.C.—At a press conference held on Capitol Hill Friday, mourning Democrat leaders called for flags to be flown half-mast to honor the death of Qasem Soleimani.

Flags were spotted flying at half-mast around the country, notably at The Washington Post, The New York Times, and in front of several celebrities' homes. The celebrities went out and bought an American flag for the first time just to fly it at half-mast for this important time of grief.

"The grieving process is painful but necessary," said Rep. Ilhan Omar. "As a nation, we need to stop and grieve this great, austere, revered religious scholar. He was one of the good ones."

In a rare moment of unity with The Squad, Pelosi gave each of the girls a hug, telling them to just "let it all out" in their time of sadness.

Ocasio-Cortez didn't seem to know what was happening but adjusted her glasses to look smart.

A teary-eyed Barack Obama was also seen solemnly lowering the flag in front of his seaside mansion. "To think, this all could have been prevented with a few pallets of cash." He sighed and stared off into the distance, a look of pain and regret on his face. "If only Trump had targeted a U.S. citizen with a drone strike instead."

Later, Democrats clarified they meant we should fly the Iranian flag at half-mast, not the "offensive and problematic" American flag.

PublicAnimalNo9 PublicAnimalNo9:
Secondly, after the initial disaster they turned Iran into, you'd think they would have learned to stay the hell out of other countries' internal affairs.

Only if that country doesn't have energy to offer.

The US has moved from 'influencing suppliers' to 'directly controlling the supply'

$1:
I mean let's face it, the US is solely responsible for what happened to Iran.
What makes me laugh is they're worried about Iran installing a puppet regime in Iraq. Well, if anything they learned that trick from the US.

So you'll have to excuse me if I don't lay 100% of the blame for what's going on, on Trump. Democrats and Republicans alike for decades deserve all the credit for America's colossal fuck ups in the Mid-East.

I dunno about that. Getting rid of Commie Mossadeq(sp) and putting the Shah in
gave Iran and the US 45 years of good times. It was the Shah who messed up by getting
way too dictatorial.

It was Carter just letting the mullahs take over in 1979 that started to make the mess.

Considering the money vs terrorism (a new thing, btw), Saudi is also a helluva good deal.

"Citing anonymous sources within the Iraqi security service and Shi’ite militia commanders, Reuters reports that, at the time of his death, Soleimani had instructed al-Muhandis “and other powerful militia leaders to step up attacks on U.S. targets in the country using sophisticated new weapons provided by Iran…” including Katyusha rockets and shoulder-fired missiles capable of bringing down helicopters. Moreover, “the U.S. intelligence community had reason to believe that Soleimani was involved in ‘late stage’ planning to strike Americans in multiple countries, including Iraq, Syria, and Lebanon…”

In fact, by the time Soleimani was killed, the initial phases of the planned attacks had already taken place. The Soleimani strike followed by days a thirty-plus rocket attack by a Quds Force militia on an Iraqi military base which killed an American civilian contractor and wounded four American servicemen. And, the day before Soleimani’s death, the same Quds Force militia had assaulted the U.S. embassy in Baghdad.

Thanks to superior intelligence gathering and analysis, a brief opportunity arose to target and eliminate Soleimani and disrupt his plan of attack. Under those circumstances, time was of the essence, and the president had to promptly order the drone strike and end the threat. Whether such exigent circumstances would have allowed for advance notice to Congress is an open question.

Nevertheless, the Democrats and their media steno pool have vehemently condemned the president’s decision as illegal since he acted without first consulting Congress. This criticism is, of course, specious — if not outright dishonest — given that no commander-in-chief is required to brief Congress before taking action to protect American military and diplomatic personnel from imminent harm.

Moreover, the issue arises as to whether such consultation would have compromised operational security..."

Oh look suddenly you’re trusting the left-wing socialist mainstream media and its “anonymous sources”. How does that work?

No. I'm offering it up to all the lefties like yourself who believe every wacko conspiracy theory, anonymous source from the Russian collusion delusion to Shifty Schiff's fantasy whistleblower.

And I'm pretty sure Reuter's is what Doc would call a "trustworthy" source so there you go. If you believed the previous anonymous sources from "trustworthy" sources (and you did) you have to take this one to the bank.

Myself, I'll consider it and wonder how credible it is. I do see how Soleimani's meetup with his gang leaders would be a government secret the Americans wouldn't want the Iranians to know too much about or they might figure out who the American agents were who passed on the information. I also see why officials within Trump's government might want to leak out bits of the story. So...possible I guess, from my camp.

From yours you'd have to believe it as straight from the lips of the progressive/regressive leftist god or be open-book guilty of the slimy hypocrisy you're trying to accuse me of.

I like the part where Trump and pals are suddenly saying "trust the CIA!" after four years of saying the intelligence services are all liars. And of going on "that they've got nothing!" when it came to the information about their connections and scams Team Trump been engaging in with the Russians.

Trump never said "ALL" intelligence services are liars.

He said there's a deep state, unconstitutional, cabal burrowed within the Washington bureaucracy, including intelligence services. Sounds pretty possible to me and apparently there are current investigations checking it out.

Yeah, more of those great "citizen journalists" you admire so much. Are Chuck C. Johnson, James O'Keefe, and the guy who emptied the magazine from his AR-15 into the ceiling of the Comet PingPong restaurant diligently pursuing the trail of the deep state lizardmen? How about Joe Arpaio and all those others who are ready any day now to spill the true beans about Barack Obama's birth certificate and college transcripts?

Jesus fucking Christ, it never ends.

If I want super dumb or ultra-moronic I usually go to Trump's twitter account. Highly illuminating, not just to illustrate the true nature of the man but to examine the responses of his worshippers.

He was right to back out of increasing the conflict in Syria and he's right, red-lining the Iranians here on how much aggression America is willing to take.

He's only been right about two things in his entire life. That most people are easily-fooled morons and that low-flush toilets are evil.

You mean you're pissed off because even Reuters won't support the narrative you prefer?

I'm so bored right now (due to a pulled lower back) that I turned on a couple American news channels (I rarely watch ANY news at all), and they are saying that 1) Iran is moving military equipment around to prepare for a strike, and 2) Top officials in the U.S. that haven't already been briefed on the situation with Iran are being briefed.

The U.S. is apparently ready to strike back almost immediately if Iran does something, regardless what that something is.

Shit is getting real.
