Sorry, but events like this always carry a big price tag and unless you propose we only serve finger sandwwiches and veggies with ranch dressing on paper plates, that's what it costs.


I don't think food and drink are things that should EVER be paid for with public dollars, under ANY circumstances.


I guess you and I will have to agree to disagree - IMHO, it's the one of the costs of running a government. You can't expect to hold international conferences and not give your guests any food or drinks. Picking up the tab is part of the price of such things.

Yeah. When we hosted a reception for the opening of the Canadian conulate in Puerto Vallarta on our ship that had mayors, govenors, military brass and such, we should have told them to BYOB and pack enough tacos for everyone.

Yeah, Canada wouldn't look like a cheesy skin flint country then. :roll:
