You can't tell the difference between Iraq and Libya? Really?

I see your point but humour me and tell me the difference between Syria and Libya and why the EU, US and Canada haven't intervened?

No Oil(or very little), Russia/China opposition.

Since you have long assumed they Hate you, of course you don't like them for that.

Then I guess I failed to appreciate their idea of sarcastic humor and mistook it for a hatred of the West. My bad, I guess.

Do you think propping up their Dictators makes them like you?

No, I think their religion makes them hate us no matter who is in charge. At least a dictator keeps the more radical elements on a leash and, paradoxically, dictators in that part of the world have been a force for relative peace.

And do keep in mind that in the case of Syria my government is supporting the rebels and I'm siding with your nominal fellow travelers in Russia and China for a change.

You don't even realize that post makes you look stupid. Which is the truly sad part.

Bingo and that's why the EU was so hot to trot about "Saving Libya" which is a complete misnomer when you think about them claiming it was a humanitarian mission.

So the fact of the matter is, I don't support dictators and I'm glad to see the last of Khadafi and Hussein but I also find it repugnant that situations like this bring out the worst in democratic governments and turns them into hypocrtites.

Anyway, after the last few debacles in the middle east, maybe it's time for us to take a step back and let them sort out their own problems without our help and if the US starts running short of oil they can always buy more of ours.

Not getting involved just results in Price spikes the West can't afford. It's all the more reason to get beyond Oil based Energy as fast as possible.

That'd be great, but only as long as whatever replaces oil Canada has a shitload of.
