She drove on the wrong side of the street - certainly enough to get tested for. And the off duty cop just called the on duty cops to administer the test.

It's a BC story, was extensively written up in the local paper.

$1: It's just a HORRIBLE state of affairs when these high school drop outs on a power trip
Obviously, you're not a Canadian. Most of the cops I know have at least a bachelors degree, in any number of disciplines, although most have degree from the humanities. The only ones who didn't have degrees before joining, were former MPs and they've worked towards a diploma(an associate diploma...sorry two years isn't a real degree, unless it's a graduate or a doctoral degree, no matter what holders say)

2Cdo 2Cdo: Surely you have some evidence of police forces hiring high school drop outs?. Sure I do. What are the qualifications to be a cop now? http://www.opp.ca/ecms/index.php?id=88I don't speak from inexperience. Most of my family were police and fireman for generations. Everyone of them agrees that the force is garbage today. Most are embaressed to share the badge with the new crop of power hungry retards that give them a bad name. Yeah like any job there are a lot of good eggs, but the culture of the job changed and that is the problem.

We get it, you don't like the police. But if something were to happen to you I'd bet the whining and crying for the police would wake the dead.

andyt andyt: I don't know. I want her tested to see what her lung capacity really is. If she can't blow enough for the meter, how can she breathe enough to live? The cops had every reason to stop her. I was wondering that myself. First her normal driving style appeared to a cop to equate that of an impaired driver, then she doesn't have the lung capacity to blow into a breathalyzer. How does she still have a license?

Well, first off, normal breathing has nothing to do with a breathalizer test. You're blowing into nothing, for a pretty long time. I guess anyone with lung problems would have a problem with that. I think even I would have a problem with it. The one time I had to take one, it felt like it took forever till it was enough, and my lungs felt pretty empty long before the cop said to stop. Did it ever occur to anyone she just might have had a stroke? Or that she was changing radio stations? What do you mean "how can she still have a license". WTH?? My friends husband (truck-driver) just had his license taken away last year because his arteries were clogged so bad, it just was not safe. He had no complaints what so ever tho. He got 5 by-passes 2 months ago. Got his license back last week.

It's not high school dropouts or education at all. It's just one of those jobs that attracts and overly high proportions of assholes. She met one of them. The ones that have poor education and are complete and total assholes get hired into the bureaucracy. Go into a DMV, Welfare Office, etc. You're almost guaranteed to meet one.

2Cdo 2Cdo: Oops, your own link said high school GRADUATE or equivalent. What part of "or equivalent" did you misunderstand? lol Herbie hit the nail on the head though. Because of the power that comes with the job, it attracts a disproportionate number of aholes. And in my experience, the more ignorant and closed minded the person, the bigger ahole they are. I'll say it again. We grant these people a disproportionate amount of power and responsibility. There aren't many jobs where if you have a bad day, or throw a tantrum, or just feel like being a douchbag, someone's life gets ruined or worse... And these guys work for the very people they can screw over... So they should also be held to a much higher standard. And the screening process should be specifically designed to weed those aholes out.

This statement proves that you have never been required to take a breathalyser!Another fine example of someone beaking off about something that they know nothing about!

And that screening process should continue after they're hired. We had the three totally drunken cops that beat the shit out of a newspaper delivery guy for no reason. They were off duty, and initially the cops that responded put the cuffs on the delivery guy at the word of these cretins, till bystanders put them straight. All three are still on the job.

Equivalency would mean an out of province high school graduation.

$1: The General Educational Development (GED) is a set of five multiple choice tests in the areas of language arts writing, language arts reading, social studies, science and mathematics. The language arts writing test also requires the writing of an essay.
The GED Secondary School Equivalency Certificate is awarded to examinees who successfully complete all five tests. For more information please see the Guidebook for Examinees.
The GED certificate is NOT the same as the Dogwood Diploma awarded to students who complete the graduation requirements of the British Columbia Secondary School Program. Just because high school is the minimum requirement, doesn't mean that they hire at that level. They get sufficient applicants with higher education than the minimum required. And as we've seen with the RCMP in BC, that doesn't mean they don't hire a good crop of bad apples and do their best to minimize the actions of those apples

SprCForr SprCForr: Equivalency would mean an out of province high school graduation. No, no, no. They are all sociopathic highschool dropouts, except the "members of his family".
