And what's with the "Reverse Hitler" facial hair on this d-bag?

The guy reminds me of a used car salesman pretending to be a politician.

Piece of sh*t sounds accurate for any current Conservative MP.

Except Ritz, he's a lying piece of sh*t.

The salient issues seems to be overlooked. There are two parts to this.

First, is Peter Kent a "piece of excrement."

Second, why was he called a "piece of excrement."

The answer to the first part lies in the second.

Kent was called a "piece of excrement" because he attempted to mislead Parliament. He called out Megan Leslie for not attending the conference at Durban when, as cannot be emphasised too strongly, he denied opposition members the Right to attend the conference.

Only a very large "piece of excrement" would act that way. Adding insult tot he affront to Parliamentary democracy by lying about the nature of the affront.

Case proved. He is a "piece of excrement." Trudeau, though unparliamentary understated the charge.

I'm curious. How did Kent deny the right of opposition members to attend Durban?
Travel restrictions? Jail time? Told them they couldn't go?

I think the underlying story exposes a point though. Trudeau said that the conservatives aren't taking responsibility for anything they can dodge (forget exact words). This is part of what people are afraid of a Harper government for. It's a bit shallow, starting at the top. Eventually people will catch on and approval rates will slip. I think it's a window on the conservatives, and the view is getting clearer. Charging the Liberals for not going to the convention when the government bared them (held back funds?).

PubliacAnimalNo9,

They were only denied going on tax payer dime.

There was nothing stopping them from going if they paid out of their own pockets.

Now, if only that had been carried to all government officials attending Durban...

Exactly. Apparently the usual case is that the opposition is invited by the gov to go to these things on the gov dime. That's why Elizabeth may had to find another nation to sponsor her. For the minister to travel there at taxpayer expense but chide the opposition is rich.

Andyt,

That may be, but...there is always a but, eh?

There is no rule or law that states that the opposition have the right to go. It is entirely up to the reigning government's discretion.

If the opposition wants more say, they need to motivate more voters and get it.

Personally, I think this is just another Liberal MP tantrum created by trying to adjust to third tier status.

I would find it very hard to do what they do, go from having a voice that is heard to being back benched at a whim of another party...

On the up side, stuff like this is what will swing our government back to a minority, and I dare say, a more balanced government.

That's pretty much what I figured too. I guess we can see the true strength of the Canadian Left's commitment to combatting global warming.
Then again, it's really no surprise coming from a party that signed Kyoto then allowed an increase of emissions of around 24%.

Absolutely, it's up to the govt. But to not invite the opposition, while the govt rep lives large on the public dime going to the conference, then sneering at the opposition for not going is just too rich. Don't want to invite them, fine, but then shut up about them not going.

Also, Elizabeth May had to find another nation to invite her. So it looks like you don't just get in there on a whim, you have to be part of a nations delegation.
