The title of this thread is "court order to let NY protesters..."

What affect the NY Occupy inevitably affects the other chapters, Andy. Don't play dumb.

-J.

Yet you just finished saying:
CDN_PATRIOT CDN_PATRIOT:
Is that what you call it? I was referring to the Toronto chapter of Occupy, not the Wall Street edition. Perhaps read the thread first Andy, rather than skimming little bits for your daily troll session.

-J.

So which is it - you were talking about TO not wall street, or that wall street affects other chapters? And if Wall street has a significant number of people in it who do vote and are politically involved, who's to say TO doesn't?

If the court order allows the protesters to return and the property owner did infact remove their permissin (I have yet to see this verified), would the poperty owner be within their rights to sue the courts for property damages?

The article is talking about a public part they are squatting in, I think a new bylaw needs to be implemented about a no camping rule.

As for Andy, you are right that they probably do a packet of voters in their rabble, but I think they are the exception.

There may be some registered voters in that bunch, there may not be, I never asked them. Grabbing what camping gear you have to live in filth and squawk a message that lost meaning weeks days ago isnt your average person. With the average voter turn out very low, I would presume that it is even lower in this group of malcontents.

Nowhere does it say the owner revoked permission.

What can happen tho is that once you allow public access you can't revoke it. Like you allow people to establish a trail across your land, you can't then just block people from using it. But I thought this was a matter of a longer period of time - ie it has become an established pattern.

The article is about Zuccotti Park which is privately owned.

Nowhere do they mention limiting public access. They only mention tents and camping, which is illegal in Zuccotti Park to begin with.

As for owner permission, I have heard reports that they have granted and denied OWS permission. No direct response from Brookfield Properties as of yet.

I doesnt say in the article if it was city or privately owned, but wiki does say it is owned by Brookfield Office Properties. So I am really at a loss now why these people are not hosed off the sidewalk.

I volunteered my time last week at a men's shelter in Toronto. You?

Are you out there in the trenches feeding meals to homeless men and women? Are you sitting there helping these people move around all their possessions in garbage bags? Are you down at the food bank sorting food for Christmas?

I care about people.

I'm not some know-it-all asshole on a forum that comes up with hair-brained ideas on how to cure poverty from my mom's basement.

Shut your mouth, come out of your mom's basement and do something for a change.

I agree. But lots of earnest people in there too. And, many of them don't see the good of voting for a Hobson's choice, and hope that their actions will inspire others. The Repubs are worried that in fact the Occupy movement will translate into votes, but until the Democrats grow a pair and don't just play a slightly more moderated version of he Republicons, these people will feel disenfranchised.

I personally think the occupy thing has lost it's meaning and should move on to more constructive means. But who knows, if some of them make it thru the winter, and things keep going downhill, maybe next year it will become a more widespread movement that actually accomplishes something. I respect Occupy for trying, but don't have much use for the Vancouver one now, for instance, because it's mostly turned into a homeless/druggie squat.

I think they are all destined to turn in slums. I will say this about the teabaggers though, they seemed to be the cleaner bunch.

Nope, "goggles" is next to Godliness.
Cleanliness is next to claustrophobia and cleavage, you can look it up yourself XD
