Boo fucking hooo.

If Davie Shipyards had done a decent job on the Naval ships for the last 3 decades the work may have come their way.

From personnel experience Davie did things like screw up the FWD King Post so bad when they put in the missle fit that the Tribals actually had to go to a Sampson Post ala the 1950's in order to conduct heavy jackstays. :roll:

They also painted every compartment on the ship and didn't bother to use primer so on the way around, every lower deck space that got moist actually had all the paint lift. 8O

And here's one for the ages. We were alongside in HFX and we had an alarm that indicated a fire in our Fwd magazine. Needless to say it was panic stations till one of the HT's went and opened the valve on the hatch. Lo and behold water started pissing out. Davie forgot to properly tighten and then test the fire main. Weeks of work wiping down every shell with fresh water drying it then reammunitioning combined with HFX shipyard taking all the fittings apart and replacing gaskets and flanges that should have been changed during the conversion but weren't. :roll:

I could talk about a dozen other problems with them, including the one where they held the ship hostage when they decided their bid was to low and they wanted more money before they finished the ship, but what's the point.

I guess somebody finally noticed the cost overruns, shoddy workmanship and political pandering that went on in the decades before and decided enough was enough.

no matter who gets the contract, it's a no win situation for the government. On the posative side, this is a HUGE military investment and all the money will stay right here..in Canada!

But, but....I thought government spending to create jobs was baaaaaad?

I'm wondering why cons aren't up in arms about money being spent when we have a huge deficit.....oh I forgot....it's not the Liberals or NDP doing it.

You may as well quit bitching. This is a 25 year program so at some point you'll likely get your wish.

And that being if the Liberals ever manage to get elected this whole program will be shut down and the Liberal Government of the day will pay millions in penalties for breaking contracts, then, they'll resart the whole program again under a different name ensuring Quebec and Davie Shipyards get the Lions share of the program................... just for old times sake. :roll:

Would that make you happier?

Horseshit. A turkey can fly in a strong enough wind and the party in power has nothing to do with the weather.

1. because provincial budgets are different from federal ones and surplus or deficit has little to with the strength of the economy;
2. Harris was a fuck-up, but you're comparing apples to oranges;
3. No, wars are.

Touchy...yeah, I know how they got it.

Sound managment. :lol:

Check the 30 billion taken from our pension fund or the downloading of billions of dollars in health care to the provinces. Both things that Mr. Martin used to help balance his budget.

http://www.psac-afpc.com/news/2011/issu ... 24-e.shtml

But, you know what pisses me off more than the fact that he took the money is that the kids serving now have to pay considerably more and serve longer for a pension than their predecessors did. This and the fact that he and his Liberal Cronies then had the gall to pass a bill that made this exact same thing illegal for any other company or corporation in Canada other than them to do it. :roll:

Sound management my ass. :lol:

Probably because we're not interested in hearing the idiotic leftards scream if we handed the keys of the country over to the imperialist US when we asked them to patrol our littoral waters for us.

Roe Roe:
Perhaps instead of relying on the government to provide their pension they should invest in the market like a true capitalist instead of sounding like a whiny union member.

Only one third of that pension was union. The other two thirds belonged to the Military and the RCMP, both of which aren't unionized and have no choice in how the Gov't manages their pension funds.

Maybe we'll see the next Liberal Gov't put it back into the fund since as you say they're so good with money. But until then I seriously doubt that the present Gov't is gonna ever give back 28 Billion dollars union, non unior or otherwise.

My guess is that it's gone and all the court cases, even if we win will be appealed, delayed, or using Parlimentary Sovereignty ignored.

Meh, they are young enough to take care of their own future.

When you join the military, you have no choice about your pension. You can't decide to opt out.

thats pretty childish, or are you saying a country with the second longest coast lines, and is in danger of loosing some control over the arctic should just sit back and do nothing??

or would you like that 35B to goto the US for it's defense industry instead?

you pick.

He'd probably have the ships built by the absolutely lowest bidder.
