eureka eureka:
I don't mean to encourage Quebec bashing or Francophone bashing. This comes with many decades of brainwashing. A survey done by an organisation I was involved with conducted a survey in 1978 of the West Island of Montreal.
There were approximately 1,000,000 Anglophones and 900,000 Francophones living in that area at that time.
I don't recall the exact figures but, either 73% or 79% of Francophones opposed the language laws. It is probably less than that now as a new generation has grown up with them and has been fed the propaganda that it is necessary for survival.
However, these laws are immoral and illegal and they should be swept away. Canadian Courts have adopted a cowardly political strategy in ruling them to be Constitutional. They do so because political leaders, federal and provincial have, from the beginnning, tried to keep the lid on Sovereigntist activity by sacrificing the Anglophone community.
They are not constitutional. We use the notwithstanding clause to bypass the constitution to apply them.
