Not a good PR move.

Sure it is.

Romney's $12 million dollar stimulus to the California construction industry will create more jobs than the trillions that Obama and Bush burned on so-called stimulus that has clearly had no impact on jobs.

I see your point.

The bigger home will result in higher property tax revenues.

That's a shame, since it's so inflated with hyperbole that it's totally pointless.

Nice, With spin like that you should work for his campaign.

That was a slam on Obama and Bush. For the record, I won't vote for Romney if he wins the nomination. If wanted a President who supports gun bans, government healthcare, global warming cap n' trade policies, higher taxes, increased spending, and etc. I'd just as soon keep Obama.

Romney as a candidate would be the poster boy for re-electing Obama.

The timing couldn't be worse. Dude wants to be President, scraps $12million as if nothing(although most of that value is probably the Land and not the house itself), while millions of his fellow Americans are on the verge of losing their Homes worth a tiny fraction of that, it just shows how far from the average American he lives. Whether it ultimately has any affect on his chances remains to be seen, but it certainly doesn't help.

I agree. I'm only hoping this kind of thing stops him from getting the nomination.

Who would you like to see nominated? or who wouldn't you mind seeing nominated?

DanSC DanSC:
Eh more power to him. It's his property, and he's applied for the proper permits.

It's just bad optics. Were he not running for public office, or were this economic boom-time of the late 90's, this probably wouldn't matter.

It's a little hard to convince the public that you understand the economic hardships they're going through while you're doing something like this. Especially while the other politicians are dressing up in work-jackets, staging photo-ops with Joe the Plumber and his lunch-bucket pals and spouting off all the "I feel your pain" rhetoric.

A photo-op of Romney wearing a suit covered with dollar signs while eating a $1,000 hamburger and dabbing his mouth with $100 bills would probably have gone over better.
