From what he said, it's the judge who decides the possible sentences since they are elements of Law.

The judge decides the sentence, but the jury does the convicting. As least in ROC.

I agree with you, but wasn't there a thread about the new cushy prisons that Norway is creating, ones that resemble artist colonies rather than penal institutions? Put the prick in a tower on an island off the Norwegian coast near Tronheim with nothing to impede the sea air but bars and stone. Air drop the food to the roof which he can acess in case he feels like jumping..

In that case, there was 4 possible sentences presented to the jury: 1st degree murder, 2nd degree murder, unvoluntary manslaughter and non-criminally responsable. Not guilty was not an option since he admitted the murders.
