So we should have a party and show the world we're past it. Big continent wide party. Think we could apply for stimulous funds?

Leave it to Canadians to be politically correct and overly sensitive over winning a war after we were unjustifiably invaded by a greedy land-grabbing enemy. Ah, well, it gives us something in common with the Vietnamese, in that we're only one of two peoples on the face of the earth over the last two hundred that ever gave the Yanks a righteous and stinging defeat for when they got uppity and poked their noses in where they didn't belong. I'd love to see Mel Gibson make another one of his shitty anti-British movies about 1812!

Always had a certain sympathy for the Vietnamese. We both beat the French and then the Americans.
And no Johnny McWackle, Laura Secord did not give out chocolates to the Americans. See you again next semester.

I thought all the French, Limeys, Jocks, Paddies and Trogs left before WW1 and it was just Canadians who did all that?
Hey, I watched 'Paschendale', even though the official records showed that 70% of the Canadian Expeditionary Force was born in the UK/Eire, no accents in that movie!
Didn't Trudeau erase all that pesky history stuff about the Brits and their part in the building of Canada?

We have a party every year to celebrate 1812 and we even invite a bunch of American friends. We do feed them, but we don't let them drink any of the good beer, that is, Canadian. After dinner, we get our guns out and chase them back to where they came from. Good fun! ...I wonder if GreenTiger and Bart can come over this year.

GreenTiger GreenTiger: There is nothing wrong and everything right about Canada commemorating their achievments in the war of 1812.
We invaded you, you kicked us in the ass and sent us home. Well, at least you fellas got a good National Anthem about it.

EyeBrock EyeBrock: Check out Fort George in Niagara-on-the-Lake, very interesting. Also there are still strong United Empire Loyalist links in the Hamilton-Niagara area. Very cool.
Fort George was very impressive when I visited a few years back.

One time I was up to do a training and I declared my rifle and kit as I entered and depsite having the proper paperwork it took hours to clear the border. The next time I was up (to Victoria) I smiled at the nice lady at the checkpoint and drove on through with enough arms and ammo to overthow a Latin American country. Surely, I can't be the only person to have ever done this.
