Ah, here we go. I am the only female to comment lightly in this thread (mind you, not the only PERSON) and I am the bad guy.

Cool, get it.

Well, you don't "get it" or you wouldn't have posted that.

Had a man posted a funny comment about a woman being mangled and cut by her husband and one of us made a joke about it, I think you'd feel the same.

Depends on the poster, the posts and the topic.

If you have read the rest of the topic, you would have realized I responded to Dino. Oh wait, he is a man, he can say it. I am a woman, I can't.

Sexism much?

Sexism?

Welcome to the real World, Brenda.

Had you 'got it' due to your vast experience with sexism, you would have known right from the start that your comment wouldn't go over well.

I expected people to have a sense of humour. My bad.

The only one throwing a pity party here is you, btw.

A few of us made jokes about it, OnTheIce.
I was wondering myself why you singled out Brenda.
Is it because she's a woman, or did she cross a line somewhere?

I crossed his line by joking about it as a woman.

Thanks for your support :P

If a man jokes about the mutilation of a woman in a domestic violence case, is that appropriate?

When it's a case of domestic violence, it's not appropriate regardless of who makes the joke, but even more unacceptable if it's coming from someone of the same sex as the accused.

The double-standard is outstanding.

The line isn't "mine"....there's a line there, always has been, but then again, it's always been 'funny' for women to poke fun at men who are victims of domestic violence but if a man was to do the same about a woman, he'd be vilified.

I'm glad you have a sense of humour towards a guy losing his penis, Brenda.

I hope you find the same humour next time you read a story about a woman being mutilated by her husband....because nothing says "it's time for a joke" like domestic violence! [B-o]

It's always funny for men to joke about women's PMS. One bitchy comment (or more, one comment that touches a man in his manhood), and she has PMS. Oh well...
