You wouldn't let your postie in? And you live in a rural area? Wow that's sad. I'd certainly let somebody dressed in a postie uniform in, assuming I was home. I'm not that paranoid yet.

The lady I have now, yes... I've happened to be home a couple times now when she's delivered parcels and she's a gem. I never laid eyes on the one at our other house, so if he/she randomly knocked on my door, I'd have to say no.

Shoot, WRG, I figured you were the Annie Oakly type and would just get out your shotgun if he tried anything funny.

Bah. He could have just denied it and blamed it on their dog if it weren't for the jerk filming him. Damn snoops with their cameras are everywhere! 8)

For all we know, the postman probably did ask at several houses to use their washroom, but they all said no.

Brenda Brenda:
I would, without a problem. Although we don't have a postman, we have boxes, but yes, I would let the meter reader in, but I do not pick up hitch hikers.

I typically don't. Funny story though, I was on the TC going into Winnipeg and a young female had just set herself up at the roadside to thumb a ride. I was travelling too fast, could not stop (I would have). The guy travelling behind me stopped and picked her up.

She was at the side of the road only moments.

Days later I travelling Hwy 17 between the Manitoba-Ontario border and Kenora at 2 in the morning and passed a car on the side of the road with four way flashers on and a fella waving me down. I pulled a U turn and pulled up behind the guy. Turns out he was having battery/electrical issues and had been waiting for someone to stop for hours. Countless cars passed by and no one would stop.

I noted this guy had his wife/girlfriend in the passenger seat. I told him if he needs to flag down help, have her do it. That hours long wait would turn into mere minutes.

Makes you think about society, doesn't it...

Sadly, this is what it's come to.

You have to think twice about stopping to help someone with a flat tire, or allowing someone else to help you. It's heart breaking, but true.

It's bullshit, that's what it is. If you're too chicken to assist someone in need, you're the problem not society.
Too chicken.
Excuses in lieu of action.
Bad citizen.
Root of the problem.

I used to pick up hitch hikers when I had a truck. They would sit in the box. If it seemed someone was having trouble, I'd get out and make sure someone was in the drivers seat.....just in case

And - if the poor bugger had a stomach flu the likes of the one going around here, he's lucky he made it to the bush.

If this is the case he should have called in sick.
