Since the election, I've seen him interviewed a couple of times and he has appeared intelligent, thoughtful and reasonable (most of all sane - not like that photo), so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

It'd be interesting, that's for sure. He can certainly leaves to argument over the hardline aspect, while not being batshit insane doing so.

I think, with Arctic issues, potential protectionist aspects, and other issues that might arise with countries that Canada considers as allies and friends, Baird might actually represent Canada in a way that shows we're not going to be pushed around.
