Depends on how pregnant you are, my wife was almost wheelchair bound near the very end. However if you just failed a pee test last week....

Wheelchair bound? Was she carrying twin hippos?

My wife is all of 5 feet and 110 pounds and she never had a need for special parking. I've had several knee operations that required the use of crutches for several months and no special parking. Sorry folks, but just because one is pregnant or has a couple of kids doesn't warrant special needs.

My ex sister in law had this, which caused her to stay bed bound for 3 month prior to giving birth, and had years of problems afterwards:

If she was bed-ridden then she doesn't need special parking privileges. And if she has continuing problems than she should get a doctor to verify that she has a condition that warrants a handicapped parking permit. It still doesn't justify the 99% of pregnant women who have no problems from getting special parking.

Where do pregnant women get special parking?
There are a few "reserved for people with children" parking spots here that are next to the handicapped spots, and are wider than the regular ones so you can get your stroller next to your car and put your kid in, which imo is one of the things that makes Canada friendly.

It's not like the family spaces take up a ton of parking spaces. I think the Walmart down by my place has 8 spots in total (2 spots right beside the handicapped spots on each side of two rows). My biggest complaint with them was exactly my complaint with many of the handicapped spots, many of the people who were using them didn't need to use them. I can't count how many times I saw a guy who was parked in one of those spots hop back into his vehicle by himself; no kids, no car seats.

Again, they're a good idea in the winter. It's hard to carry a kid in one arm with another trailing behind while you're trying to man handle a stroller.

I've talked to a few "wheelchair people" and it's not even a question of "how close". They didn't mind parking far from the doors. The big problem is having a wider parking space so that they could get in and out of the car.
One told me that he'd parked in a regular parking space and couldn't get back into his car. Had to wait until the owner of the car parked beside him came back.

Hehe He was an average boy but had a big head, something about him separating her pelvis. She was told to keep off her feet and limit standing to 20 minutes max. Another friend of ours (who's girl will be 1 year next month) was pregnant while her husband was on tour, due to a previous medical problem her cervix was stitched closed so she could still carry her baby. Her restrictions were even more severe, and with her hubby gone, every inch closer to Walmart was a Godsend.

Exactly. It has nothing to do with closer. If you can't make it 20 meters, how can you make it inside the store? It's the wider spaces.

Meh. I don't think it's an issue. Slow news day. I often see people with the Disabled tag hiop out of their vehicles and for the life of me I can't see why they are disabled.

I used to have a beuaty lowered Camaro that I hated paarking in normal-sized stalls because people would ding it swinging their doors open. My favourite thing to do was to shine that baby up like new and then pull into the Safeway and take up not one, but two Disabled parking spots. I knew I shouldn't be doing that, but I just loved the look of their handicapped faces when they saw me do it. Before I'd pull out I'd wait for a mom with little kids to walk behind the car, and then gun that V8 to the max and make the kids cry. When the store manager complained I'd hit him in the head with the beer can I'd just chugged. Good times.

Frankly disabled people should be mulched up and turned into Soylent Green. And old people. And obnoxious cyclists. And economists.

I respect disabled parking spots, but I demand the same in return. Whenever I see a disabled person trying to park in a non-disabled spot, I pull them from their cars and thump the shit out of them right there.

And what have economists ever done to you, Zip? I guess there was that one time with your girlfriend (well, it was actually a couple of times)...

I don't think that's possible. My girlfriend said she wouldn't go any lower on the social ladder than an engineer.

That's what she told me too.

She made an exception for you cause you made her laugh.
She refused to tell me how. 8O

I think it's either at the Home Depot or Canadian Tire in Prince George where I've seen spaces reserved specifically for expecting mothers. I'm not sure how common they are, but they do exist.
