andyt andyt: Notice how nobody in BC talks about going to Alta for vacation? There's a reason for that. And even those canny Chinese seem to want to buy in BC, not Alberta, even tho they are focused so much on the bottom line. Guess there's a reason for that too, not that I approve of it. Well that's a good thing, our housing pricing is all ready high enough. Good luck on your next home purchase and finding a second job to finance the mortgage

martin14 martin14:  Andy would just looooooooooooove to be an American. I seriously considered it for a while. But then Bush II got elected, and I realized just how stupid the majority of Americans could be. Mixed in with some real nice, really intelligent people.

But I agree, it's one reason I'm so down on immigration, among many.

Where is Alta? And it's funny, because if I see someone doing 90 in a 110 zone in the left lane and not using signals when they finally change lanes - they will have BC plates. And most Asian drivers here tend to have Cataracs. The minority have Rinkins.

See, even our Asians are more sophisticated than yours. Ours drive Yopean cars, mostly "Benz".

BC's a nice place but having a provincial economy that's basically built around drug dealing isn't the most reputable thing to have on one's resume.

Thanos Thanos: BC's a nice place but having a provincial economy that's basically built around drug dealing isn't the most reputable thing to have on one's resume. Should be. Nothing embodies free market capitalism like drug dealing. Competition is fierce and raw. You've got a captive consumer base, with high markups and no taxes to pay. Not much concern for the environment either. It's libertarian heaven and good old capitalist get up and go at it's finest. I would think any oilfield cowboy freebooter would be proud to have people like that working with him,

Not really. When we hire these 'libertarians' on an Alberta job site they usually show up in no condition to work. Or they rob the place blind and destroy company equipment to the point that it's uneconomical to hire them. Good thing most of them make it easy by failing the pre-entrance drug testing, which means we can reject them on the spot instead of later after they've caused all sorts of other problems and damages. Even the most Yankee-lite of our cowboys know better than to wate time with any of them. Besides, our own home-grown bilge rats are enough of a headache to deal with. Why should we hire your ones just to make things even worse around here?

You're hiring the wrong ones. The smart ones make way more money than they could grubbing in your tar sands. You're hiring the failures. You should have a recruitment program for the successful ones - perfect executive material. Could probably show you how to hide some of your profits so you don't have to share them with those damn Easterners too.

bootlegga bootlegga: Better drivers than Albertans! That's a laugh!
Every time I'm in the province, it seems like the speed limit signs were posted as an advisory, not the law. It's a rare day when you see a BC resident actually doing the speed limit - most times they are doing at least 20 - 30 kmh over it.
Calgary drivers may be aggressive, but Vancouver drivers are aggressive and selfish. I've never seen one acknowledge when I let them cut in front of me. I acknowledged you the other day after I cut you off. Here is what the acknowledgement looked like:

martin14 martin14: You guys are funny. Having driven in all parts of Canada, I can safely say the WORST drivers in Canada are in Vancouver. Alberta drivers are good in a straight line, true. Considering all the BS with bad roads, bad cars, and lousy cops, the best drivers in Quebec.. I don't know about the rest of Quebec, but Montreal folks are horrible drivers. Vacnouver cab drivers are the worst I've ever seen anywhere.

It's hard to get any good ones when we're still a magnet to all the high school drop-outs from across the entire country. You should thank us for taking them off your hands two to three years earlier than if they'd stayed home to finish school. I mean, seriously, what does BC have to offer these rip-roaring maniacs anyway? Hot- and cold-running drugs and an open-field environment in East Vancouver for all the apprentice serial killers out there?

OMFG, better have disability insurance! (and I race cars on a track!)
