saturn_656 saturn_656: romanP romanP: Why do we need a kiddie round table? A million people voted for the Green Party in the last election. If a million people don't deserve to be represented simply because they don't have a seat in Parliament, then we don't have a democracy. This isn't about what you think of the Green Party or its policies - if you don't like them, don't vote for them. What about the people that voted for the other minor parties without MP's? Or is it only the Greens that deserve special consideration? They probably didn't get anywhere near one million votes.

We may have some democratic values, but we ain't a democracy. We're an oligarchy at best.

Good, turn this into another thread whining about since the Greens are unelectable, we should change the system to accommodate them.

Mr_Canada Mr_Canada: romanP romanP: If we want democracy, and we don't have it, why opt for the status quo? I assume the Green Party doesn't actually have a platform for democratic renewal in the country, right? Why are you asking me that? Go read their platform.

It's no longer an issue, since a judge has denied May's bid.

When have you EVER seen me root for the status quo when it comes to our political system It's more of a question to everyone, not just you. If you're already voting for the underdog, you've got no complaint from me.

So you want everybody to vote for the underdog, which would make them the overdog?

They ran a candidate in every riding... and they all lost. Their popularity sure is something, lets make a special space for them in the televised debates ASAP. At least the Bloc wins seats and is a recognizable force in the House.
