Pity the poor girl named Raymonde. Jean is already a girl's name.

The only women named Raymonde I know are over 80 years old. 8O
Jean is a boy's name in French. From what I know, Jean... as a girl's name, is an English cognate of the French Jeanne.

Welcome to the west, PF :)
There are so many girls who have a boy's name here :P

(Jamie, Bobbi, Nikita (just for you :P), Leslie, Dakota and so forth :P)

In French, a lot of male names are changed to female by adding an "e" at the end or, in some cases, changing the last "e" to an "a".

Raymond - Raymonde
Denis - Denise
Alexandre - Alexandra
Jean - Jeanne

But with adding an e, the pronounciation (apparently, I spelled that wrong ) changes, but the Jamies and Bobbies are pronounced the same as their male counterparts...
In my daughters class, there are 3 kids with a similar name... A male Dakota, a female Dakota, and a male Dakoda
