Freakinoldguy Freakinoldguy:
Better check the NHL website again. Lapierre hasn't been a member of the Hab's since Dec 31 2010 and his antics were one of the reasons for his untimely departure.

But I guess Lucic sucker punch of Freddy Meyer was totally different.

So when are the Bruins gonna trade those thugs Lucic and Chara?

Doesn't matter if he's a part of the team now or not....the point is, where was the call from the same fans to have the police involved in this cases?

Hits from behind are FAR more dangerous and far more common and have potential to cause serious harm.

17 years after being crushed from behind, two MRI's later, I still have daily pain in my lower back and numbness in my legs.

From what I've seen and heard in real life about this is that nearly all who are crying fowl don't watch hockey or haven't had a stick in their hand for decades. The speed and size of the game has completely passed them by. They think slow motion is real time.

PublicAnimalNo9 PublicAnimalNo9:
Bet the fans in Montreal would have no issue with them playing for the Habs

Probably not, but the point I was trying to make was that it wasn't just the Habs who had guys who played dirty or as they like to call it now...........with an edge  .

The problem isn't the speed of the game or the size of the players, since thats relative. It's RESPECT or the lack of that's really the issue.

So, until the NHL and NHLPA figure out a way to make players respect each other and consider the consequences of their actions it's not gonna stop and Batshit Crazy Bettman can change all the rules he likes but it won't make one iota of difference.

But the first thing the League should do is make changes to the boards so there aren't unprotected steel pylons anywhere near the playing surface. But hey that'd cost the owners some money so Batman won't be doing that anytime soon and this will happen again, sooner than later.

I agree with Lemmy and 2Cdo. Its unfortunate that there was an injury but it was the fault of the arena configuration not the hit.

They have a standard in NHL arenas. That glass is everywhere in the 30 NHL ice rinks. He knew it was there. He's not a newbie, he's Zdeno Chara !

By that logic there should be a suspension everytime someone gets hurt as long as its a veteren that gives the check. Your being a homer. Try and watch the play imagining the jerseys reversed.

Not at all. Did you read what I say ? THEY KNOW WHERE THEY ARE ON THE ICE RINK.

I'm not saying it was intentional. It's not premidited. It happened in 0.8 second. But, he DID IT.

So put the shoe on the other foot. Max knew the post was there and knew he was trying to go around the biggest SOB in the NHL.

Further, it happens all the time in the NHL, why aren't you guys crying foul when it happens to some kid in Atlanta?
