Skilled prisoners should be made to work as a form of restitution. I've said it before and I'll say it again that prisons should be run like businesses. Convicts who pose little to no threat should be employed in prison labour camps that produce lumber, clothes, food and other things for the system, to drive down costs. Prisoners leave with a trade that can applied in the workforce and hopefully keep a clean nose.

Yogi Yogi:
Freakinoldguy Freakinoldguy:
So a couple of questions about this?????????

1}Do you cease being a union member if you get paroled, since you're no longer an active con and just another criminal;

2)If you don't want to belong to the union, do they break you're knee caps, arms, elbows, testicles, head or whatever;

3)Who gets to be head of the union and does his term last as long as his sentence;

4}And why is the Government even entertaining this insanity?

Prisoners who work should be given proper clothing and training to do the job safely and efficiently but after that, they're still convicts and should be treated as such.[/quote]

This^ has in fact been the situation for years. I know this from personal experience! :lol: Inmate safety is also governed by WCB inasmuch as safety issues.

Okay, so then a union is rather redundant isn't it?

I can't help but get the feeling that this is all a ploy by the convicts and their lawyers. If these guys were so gungho about unions why didn't they get a job and join one before turning to a life of crime?

I call bullshit.

Only in Canada... cannot believe the Government is actually entertaining this idea. Though this is the Canadian Government. Rational decisions regarding Canada has never been there strong suit. Just let any body walk all over them.
