And the Visa fee is matched for UAE nationals and residents wanting to visit Canada and vice versa.

Not even a little DD. An entry fee was an entry fee. We don't charge $1000 for a multiple entry visa, for 6 months, and the fees don't change depending on which nationality you are.

Oh I forgot there is a catch

$1:
A 30-day visa costs US$250 (Dh918) through the UAE Embassy in Ottawa but can be bought for $74.50 through Emirates, and $83 via Etihad.

Beside almost every Canadian I know here says they would rather die than travel by Air Canada. This from a local forum

$1:
I agree that protecting Air Canada is dumb. Canadians will fly anyone BUT them if they can. They should just let AC die a quick death and let Emirates come in. The sectors they were after are not serviced by AC now, anyway, so not sure what the point is. Whenever myself or any family or friends fly from this part of the world to Canada, it is ALWAYS Emirates to either Toronto or some point in Europe, then Westjet from TO to the other point in Canada, or a European carrier from Europe to Canada.

Screw the UAE.

If they want to charge Canadians outrageous visa fees, then maybe we'll stop going there and spend our tourist dollars elsewhere.

Not this Canadian - I hate the campiness of Westjet staff.

And WJ has no plans to go international as they are only willing to fly the 737 (to save on maintenance costs) - which eliminates any possibility of them flying to Europe or Asia.

I say turnabout is fair play.

Cancel whatever routes the UAE still has, match dollar for dollar
visa restrictions / costs.

Well sherlock here isn't too smart. Cancel routes, right and get sued for breach of contract.

Fair play ? Thats exactly what is about. UAE nationals nor residents were ever allowed visa free entry into Canada. And the Visa fee is matched for UAE nationals and residents wanting to visit Canada and vice versa.

I think your doing a great service to you country by not living in it. A couple of Indian immigrants would be a better option for Canada

Nice personal attacks, keep em coming. :)

I was under the impression they were going to expand to 777s for their 4 biggest domestic routes as well as international flights within the next 5 years.

It's why I spend my hard earn dollars in the Americas.

Europe is for family. The Middle East is for CNN, and Africa is for business and the occasional pleasure safari.

But tourism...I don't think anything beats the Americas...

Give me Rio or Bridgetown any-day thank you very much.

Pfftt...Visa fees to the UAE....I laugh.

They should ask the Czechs, I'm sure Canadian tourism died while they
had visa restrictions on us.

Didn't get any of my money, Budapest is a nice town. :)
