I am complimenting a group who are giving something back to their communities and somehow this comes off as ISlamophobia.

I like people who do good and noble things. I like to be around them and to read about them. When groups do things like this it speaks well for them.

What is wrong about that?

Mr_Canada Mr_Canada:
It's not an attack against you GreenTiger.

It's a great story. What would be wrong is to aggressively expect
this kind of news before having positive opinions of Muslims.

So sure it 'helps' relations between Muslims and Non-Muslims,
but to anti-racists, it looks like a news story saying that
some Chinese person can drive well. It's news because there
is a significant racist problem in this society right now.

So good on to this Muslim group for doing whatever they want.

Shame on everyone else for thinking they aren't capable of anything
positive unless it's plastered on the front cover of the paper.

If you want to improve Muslim and Non-Muslim relations, talk to one...

Actually I do. I've attempted at times to find folks in countries that we don't exactly get along with such as Cuba, (no luck there) to learn more.

I believe people are basically good and talking with people can be both educational and a lot of fun.

You must be referring to Ho-Pin Tung, who was the first Chinese driver allowed in the F1, this past February.

OK. That explains a bit. he's only ethnically Chinese, and hasn't been afflicted with their driving skills(or lack thereof).

I like people who do good things as well. But I wonder if you'd have made a similar comment about them demonstrating they can be good neighbors if it were a group of Chinese, Blacks, East Indians, Irish etc if they'd have done it.

Should this be a news story? I don't think
it'd make the cut if it wasn't Muslims.

That's BS. There was a news story in Winnipeg about the Christmas dinners sponsored by the Sons of Italy, supplying gifts and Christmas dinner for new arrivals to Canada. There are stories of Sihks, Greek and other groups doing the same. As for pointing out race, it's gotten to the point that when the news reports on a suspect wanted by police, the suspect is described as ,'someone wearing a (insert colour) hoodie and jeans.' Save your moral indignation for something that is factual.
