ShepherdsDog ShepherdsDog:

He's equating the syllable /his/ with the possessive pronoun his, which is pronounced /hiz/

Well...since its English translation comes from the Greek, historia (which means to inquire), i'm not sure how one arrives at a gender, unless they're confusing it as a literal HIStory, which is not accurate.

The same goes when it comes to the misandrous halfwits that want to change woman to womyn. Man comes from mannas(sanskrit I believe), and it merely means human being, which is a gender neutral term. The people that stir up this shit need to get a life or quit projecting their own insecurities onto the rest of society.

Yeah...i just thought it was funny that he was going to chastise the PC Patrol for yet another one of their misadventures in semantics by making the very same mistake himself. That's why i spotted him a post.

school. Where are all the pagans up in arms about removing Yule from Yuletide? How come the Christians are the only ones complaining?

Maybe we don't care. Maybe we will celebrate Yule irrespective of whether a school or a government calls it Yule or not.

The point is Christmas is celebration of the birth of Christ. Jesus is the reason for the season as they say. Secularism has taken hold in Canada and there is a mass erosion of our heritage and culture. It is even filtering into the Catholic school system as well. ie. calling halloween orange and black day. Time to stop the insanity.

You mean Catholics are complaining about another PC name for Samhain?

I am all for equal rights for men and women (and been told to be a feminist because of it... Dunno why, I really like my bra's...) but this shit is just pathetic.

It was pathetic. The women's studies hags were militant misandrists that typically used the womyn and herstory nonsense.

Pregnant by a turkey baster if they could be so lucky. :D

This comes as news to you? They don't have this sort of nonsense in Holland.

But Gunnair actually got it wrong. It was the Womyn's Studies people who came up with Herstory. Having the word men in women is just another way the phallocentric patriarchy controls and dominates those poor, victimized, womyn.

Its called the erosion of Canadian culture to appease those who came here for a so called better life and want to infringe on and change Canadian way of life.

No it isn't. It's a movement by the so called 'politically correct' crowd who think we should all solve a non-existent problem because it gives their small minds greater standing in the community.

ShepherdsDog ShepherdsDog:
The thing is, most of the non Christians coming into Canada aren't the ones doing the whining and complaining about feeling left out during our taditional holidays. As someone posted on another related thread, it's a bunch of older white folk with NDP leanings if not further left, who are stirring the pot and are assuming the new arrivals are feeling left out. Self hating whites.

Bingo! The first person to wish me 'Merry Christmas' complete with Christmas card in hand, (in our very Santa-centric workplace) was my section leader. He's short, very brown and hails from Fiji (half east Indian, half African). And Hindu. He loves Christmas.

It's too bad the ignoramuses didn't take the time to research the word's etymology as it has little to do with "his". It's no wonder these morons came up with the nonsense they did.

Well, you should write them and tell them so. I'm sure they'd be interested. Mustang is a gender neutral term, right?

To be honest, I think there's a LOT of wonder being how it's supposed to be a University. Ya know, a place of higher knowledge and learning. IF they can't get something like English right, what the hell are they teaching their students?? Or, better question, what the hell are they doing teaching at all?!?!

You and Mustang really don't get it, do you? The Womyn aren't under the illusion that the his in history derives from the male possesive pronoun. They're making a rather clever point, since certainly there weren't many female historians in the old days.

Sheesh, you guys have me defending the womyn, what's next?
