We all know it's the Commie Borgs that are the real danger to civilization if not the species.

Not all Muslims want to kill us. Maybe if we help the Muslims who want to become part of our society out, they will be less inclined to join the Jihadis.
Sure.. just not with Federal money.
Or, make sure there is enough money drop a big ass church, with a big Jesus out front,
and a big ass synagogue right across the street.. all with Oboombabuckies.

I'm against govt money going for this as I would be for a Christian community center. If the center serves one religion only, let those of that religion pay for it.

I am not in favour of using the public purse to build religious buildings. Especially Mosques or so called cultural centres. I read Nonie Darwash's book. " Now they call me an infidel". Very interesting and enlightening. Read it! If you had doubts before, you won't after you read it.

yes, maybe. but nonetheless: religion was the force behind the crippling of that commmunity. now that it lay in ruins, allowing religion to inspire its 'rebuilding' is too black, even my twisted sense of irony.
saying that 'not all muslims want to kill us' is precisely accurate. but it's moot: millions more do want to kill us. but even that's moot. what matters is this: there is an ongoing argument amongst humans as to which understanding of "god" is correct. this is what 'extremists' are willing to kill for. jihadi extremism and sharia law is well-accepted by many muslims as an expression of a god who has taken their side. whether that is a perversion of the 'true islam' or not...who's to say for sure? (and ALL religions go through this holy war and cleansing bullshit every few hundred years!) in them meantime, giving concours the islam banner at ground zero, to me, a godless atheist, is nightmarishly black comedy.
this is by no means my slam on islam - to me, all religion is interchangeable, and inherently corrupted and permissive of violence. seeking 'god's' favor will bring out the worst in mankind.

That was kinda my idea too when I read it. I was thinking: is this because you can't get your funding done, or do you have a nobler reason? I think it's the first, he can't get enough funds, so now he tries this route.

nice to hear. ..but stay tuned for the upset.. for many, 'religion' is an untouchable term, never to be questioned, NEVER to be denied. (for some of the 'holier' types, it beckons the sword.)
that's why this issue is being deflected and justified and fragmented into other discussions about forgiveness; 'true islam'; xenophobia; racism; fear; nationalism; unity; harm reduction, etc..
what suprises me is that Americans have not turned to their own (majority-wise)religious figurehead for guidance on this one? if honoring the ghosts of the victims and igniting the 'spirit' of the community are truly at stake, shouldn't God's favor be sought? why then, has a very Christian country not asked Jesus how to deal with this?
Because: they are sorting it out with their other God, the almighty Dollar. if the money god giveth not his approval, you can bet they'll contact the backup and the mosque will go away..

I was trying to stay out of this discussion. But I just finished watching this, and thought I would share it.
The Dalai Lama speaks at an Islamic university about religious tolerance. (It's in english except for the first 30 seconds or so)

fascinating man. ..deserving of death by Sharia standards, btw...
but i like the dalai lama: he's charming. sure, but he's also self-professed as a godly king, reincarnated and sent to Earth directly from Heaven. if that's not stretch enough for you, he also 'annointed' Stephen Segall and Richard Gere as 'Holy Men'. (yes, the same Stephen Segall from the gratuitous titty shot and breaking elbows movies, usually starring himself as a disgraced marine or cop or navy seal or maybe a cook-who-happens-to-know-a-hell-of-a-lot-about-killing-with-his-bare-hands) ..they have special privileges in Tibet that ordinary, lower casted, that is: earthly humans do not. He had BETTER be an advocate of religious tolerance! without religious tolerance and stunning human naivety, he'd be unemployed!
(you know how people say: what would you ask the dalai lama if you could ask him just one question... here's what i'd ask: mr. lama, why were you so vocal in your support for India's nuclear weapons program? (..maybe he figured the spiritual home of his flavor of buddhism ought to have the power to obliterate any continent of its choosing, for purposes of 'peace' or 'enlightened authority' maintenance? ..because for a guy who, allegedly, won't kill a worm on purpose, nuclear armament seems a bit different from his otherwise 'non-violent' mandates, no?)
totally though- that guy can work a room for sure..cute as a button, he is.

You can shoot the messenger if you like. I think he was chosen and not not self-professed. Harmony is the message, and the applause from the audience seems to indicate agreement.
I'm grateful that there is a 'cute as a button' spokesman for moderates.
