Well, you may disagree with the free speech red herring, but that fact that Phelps successfully hides under that tired old chestnut with his God hates fags signs and his protesting the funerals of soldiers killed in Iraq suggests that maybe it is.

I'm not much of a free speech purist, especially if it's clear that it's a right being deliberately abused by the worst bastards you can find. If someone, like the EDL, opened a can of whoop-ass on those Muslims and lynched every one of them from the lamp-posts I'd be the last person to cry about it. Give them back in full measure the terrorism that they love so much to inflict on others and see how much they like it. Ditto for Westboro Baptist, if someone one day gave them all a big thank you out of the barrel mouth of an AR-15.

Some people just absolutely deserve what they have coming to them, and sometimes society is much better without these types around to ruin things for everyone else. For them I will weep not when any long overdue justice is finally served on any of them.

Yelling fire in a crowded theatre isn't free speech. This is no different. Their intention is to incite a riot. I hope none of the bobbies gets hurt. The EDL fellows, well they know the risk they are taking as volunteers and the enemy...they and all who support, give them aid and hide them deserve what they get.

If a few more examples are made, perhaps the militants will realize that they should lay low and let Britons enjoy their rights and traditions in their own homeland. The effete politicians may lack the will to defend Britain, but there are plenty of true Britons out there who still have what made an island an empire.

Mayhaps, a new Edict of Expulsion needs to be issued, one that truly targets enemies of the state.

As for the OP I think UK needs to get a pair of balls and arrest these people. Lebanon just sentenced their guru to life the least they can do is lock them up for a few weeks/months/years to knock some sense into them. If nothing just to send the message across that this wont be tolerated no more.

I absolutely agree. I'm all for limiting free speech when its being abused. Unfortunately, it ain't gonna happen.

As I've pointed out, it is no different than what Phelps is doing and he survivies under the free speech mantra. For those whose despise but support Phelps free speech rights, they'd better be saying the same about this unless they simply want to be admit to being a bigot.

Tolerance is something that many of us take pride in. I don't think people should be locked up for expressing their opinion, no matter how disrespectful it is. They've earned shame and indignation. That's a fair punishment.

Obviously you have a better understanding of the U.K. than I do. I had a roommate from London for a year. I learned a fair bit about "football", but not because I cared to.

I think it'll be a sad day when we're locking people up for non-violent protest though.

There are too many friggin muslims in Britain and France and they are slowly taking control. They really are a force to be reconned with. I have relatives in both Britain and France and they say its getting out of hand. They also say that Canadians should take a stand now before we are in the same boat.
