Mr_Canada Mr_Canada:
I don't need you to repeat Conservative propaganda to me.

Especially when it doesn't matter.

It does matter. They think that a Canadian being a professor at the one of the best universities in the world (if not the best) is something that brings shame to him.

Being a great professor doesn't mean you are a great politician. After Dion, Ignatieff is not better to talk to the population.

Our current Prime Minister has never had a full time job outside of politics. I don't believe that makes a good politician either.

BartSimpson BartSimpson:
We've got our election here today and the question of Obama being replaced by Sarah Palin is a topic of conversation.

Which makes me wonder if it would happen again that Canada would go Liberal just in time for the US to go conservative? I don't why it is, but it seems we're political opposites anymore no matter which way either one goes. We really need to do a better job of coordinating our political pendulums.

I don't really think Canada is going Liberal anytime soon Bart. Even though Steve and his Politburo have failed to impress, they haven't pissed off enough people quite yet to get tossed out. But I’m sure it will happen.

The Liberals are not the force they were and remain in disarray. Personally I'd like to see a stronger line-up in Her Majesty’s Loyal Opposition that actually challenged the government as opposed to merely heckling them.

The large mandate that Rob Ford got in a city that is naturally left in a country that naturally leans left has made a lot of people sit up and worry. Ontario will be next to fall to this wave of disaffection. But I'm not convinced that the right-of-centre have the inherent talent needed give a clear vision to replace the tired liberal and Liberal message we have all grown used to.

Interesting times but I think that there is a groundswell of disillusion sweeping across Canada just like in the States.

I might argue with the few partisans left on the Forum but really, the Tories are less than inspiring and only get my vote because they are not quite as shit as the Libs. Not far off though…..

That's what they said about the Reformacons before the unpleasantness.

A lot of politicians are like that. Some made some years of Law and switched to politics. I consider they are in the same category. But, anyway, I was more talking about the proximity with the electors.

I don't think lawyers make better politicians either. But for some reason in this thread, we have this:

CDN_PATRIOT CDN_PATRIOT:
This coming from a guy who spent decades outside of Canada, but now he's an expert.

Michael Ignatieff: Just visiting.

Where it's suggested that anyone who spends time outside of Canada is not an expert in foreign policy.

Ignatieff teaching at one of the best schools in the world doesn't bother me. The fact of the matter is that he doesn't have the full support of his own party most of the time nor does he seem to have the right personality to run something as big as this country. He whines and cries constantly when in the limelight, and won't think twice about working with the Bloc.

All of this is totally unacceptable for us as Canadians. I might be conservative, but there were Liberal leaders of past that I could actually respect. Ignatieff, like Dion, warrants no respect. He's very intelligent, but not the type that cold lead a country. Period.

Mr_Canada Mr_Canada:
If Palin won, I'd have to consider moving to Mars.

Technically speaking, she may help pay for it, too.

You could replace all of that with Harper, minus the teaching at one of the best schools in the world, and the working with other parties.
