Mr_Canada Mr_Canada:
2Cdo 2Cdo:
You're last 2 sentences sound like an addiction craving. I'm not saying you are addicted but those last sentences would give someone the impression that you might be.

Psychological addictions exist.

But you can be psychologically addicted to almost anything.

And it is not hard to push through the depression that returns after a few days if your chronic.

If a stoner has a decision to make, food or weed, food is the clear choice. Marijuana can wait, it won't beat the fuck out of you if you suddenly stop smoking it.

For a crackhead? Not so much. That's physical addiction.

The two are very different, one is normal, the other is a significant problem.

Any addiction can cause problems, I also agree that comparing marijauna users to crackheads isn't even close to the same. Psychological addictions can sometimes lead to physical addictions. Remember that old adage, "Everything in moderation".

Mr_Canada Mr_Canada:
I don't need it to be creative, but it certainly makes rhyming and poetry flow out of my pen like I've been working on it for weeks.

In my younger days it just lead to more inventive ways to make bongs and get more munchies!

Could just be the increased focus.

Try 4-5 guys stoned trying to make a Lemon Meringue pie. A video camera would be quite revealing.

Much of the music I listen too was made with the intention of sounding trippy. It sounds better high.

I listen to a lot of sixties rock, the music was recorded by bands that were high! 8)

Mr_Canada Mr_Canada:
The smokers I know hate cigarettes. Smoking isn't fun. Doesn't bring anything after
a few years. Devastatingly unhealthy. Horrifying addiction and painful to quit.

Here is where I agree 100% with you. I smoked for over 20 years and tried countless different methods to quit. Some worked for a while and some were more expensive than the smokes and didn't do a thing. The biggest thing about any addiction is that the addict has to want to quit. You won't break an addiction to please mom, dad, wife, husband etc., you'll finally break that addiction because you finally get so disgusted/pissed off with yourself. I quit a few years ago and it was both mentally, and physically painful.
I quit because I was willing to put up with the pain to break the cycle. The physical pain will go away surprisingly fast, within a few days, the mental addiction is what takes the most effort. Not having that smoke after eating or with a coffee must be replaced with a healthier alternative. I started walking the dog and gradually moved up to running with her. The running wasn't difficult as I ran nearly every day as part of our morning PT in the army, but I started pushing myself and running further, faster.
Since quitting I have completed 4 triathalons, mini not Ironman Hawaii types and have never felt better.
Nicotine is evil and if you tried to introduce nicotine in a product today it would never get past the test stage. I remember one report that claimed nicotine was even more addictive than heroin! 8O

ASL, if your bias and ignorance could be any larger, it would make Bill O'Reilly seem sane.

Prohibitionist: I support organised crime.

Anti-prohibitionist: I support getting grow ops out of residential neighbourhoods, and putting tax revenue toward fighting real crime.

actually, i've stated quite clearly at times that I favor the decriminalizing marijuana. I dont feel that mere possession of anything should make you a criminal except for a few exceptions like child pornography, a bloody hammer, etc.

pot head " I believe that the government has the legal right and responsibility to regulate and control all food and drugs that come from snake oil salesmen, pharmaceutical companies, grocers, and yes, even the lowlife drug dealer in my son's playground. BUT as soon as I take a liking to a drug and decide it is something that I want to use on a recreational basis, I expect the government to accomodate me"

Regulation and taxation would be a good thing. The black market has no regulation.. They do what they want, and defend their interests outside of the law. Gangsters fight for territory that becomes more valuable every time a bust is made. Innocent people get caught in the crossfire, and pay for the prohibition that causes the violence. Regulation is a better way.

regulation is a better way for marijuana, but I have no doubt that the gansters will continue their trade with other items. so with this in mind, I dont really support the common 'harm reduction' theories that suggest that we can erradicate the criminal element associated with marijuana.

"The illegal market for pot in California is worth $14-billion a year alone. In B.C., it’s estimated at between $5-billion and $8-billion" according to the article.

That's a huge industry. Take the profit away from them and put it toward fighting real crime.

I agree with the sentiment, but doubtful that it would happen that way
