No one who says "Won't somebody think of the children!?" actually does.

Its a cry to wrap children in bubble wrap to keep them from getting hurt, experiencing real situations, learning about the world and in general growing.

It just like "Family Values" being a code word for regression of a country to a perceived ideal state similar in nature to the "Leave it to Beaver" show, where the men wear ties to work, women wear dresses and stay home, those minimum wage jobs go to immigrants and blacks and our teens are chaste.

What a fucking laugh. They teach their students to be "peaceful". Now, I'm not trying to be a smart ass here cuz I honestly don't know but, when exactly was the last time the RCN fired a shot in anger? Korea?

I think you said it all in your first post Shep. Cept you didn't need to strike out ruining cuz that's about the size of it.

Maybe if they did this in Ontario schools (or did they). We wouldn't have all these "new" Canadian terrorists!

Freakinoldguy Freakinoldguy:
Love the picture............ Not.

If these so called journalists want to discuss the Canadian Military you'd think they'd at least be able to get a photo of a Canadian Warship. But then again finding an archive picture of any warship must have been a pretty big accomplishment for the CBC.

You beat me too that comment, I mean good grief, they can't even be bothered to spend 0.28 seconds on Google to find this
Image

But why is it really a shock from the CBC who would likely rather see our Navy like this

also both found in 0.28 seconds in the same search lol

Not the first time I have run across opposition against the military from teachers. However my kids came home spouting the teachers' anti-government union rhetoric! I soon put a stop to that! Went straight to the school and lodged a complaint. Didn't happen again.

I'd have no problem with the navy in a school. In fact, if one even takes a quick glance at the curriculum, its very realistic and it no way disrespects our armed forces.

Guy_Fawkes Guy_Fawkes:
More often then not though, Quebec + Teachers/Students = Anti-Military, forget actually learning something about the military before dismissing it. That would require understanding and listening to an opposing view point.

Im not generalizing I understand there are many people who live in Quebec that receptive towards the military.

There have been protests in NS, Toronto and one in Victoria that I remember.
In the states, they have the right to recruit on campuses but often enough, anti-recruiting protests accompany them.

Actually I see nothing bad in it, that's the job too, they have just give more information about it and that's all, choice is the problem of children.

When they go into elementary schools, it's not recruiting anymore than when the police or firefighters do, when they visit schools.

Promotion of The Military as a career is a good thing and should be able to go into schools just other professions. It isn't all about war.

we did field trips to colleges that were hosting career day. There were military recruiters, industry, as well as college reps present. I'm all in favor of bringing it to the school when possible, I am sure our entire school didnt fit into 1 bus, so I'll bet alot of kids missed out.
