Thou speakest shite.
There ain't no 'steerage' anymore and we made the rules about once you set foot onshore you get a fair chance. And once your here, everyone gets the same entitlements.

The ones you're concerned about are a redneck myth.

And just to add after getting PR the three year time limit before one is able to apply for citizenship should be a pretty good gauge as in who really has made it home and intregrated and who needs to be sent back home or atleast put on another 1 or 2 year probationary period.

So now I'm asking what really are the problems, one I do know and understand is the family class status thing and that's one thing that needs to be looked into and revised. Just immediate family like Mother and father or at best grandparents if still alive should qualify. Not the whole village from harayana Punjab.

What else could be the issue on the ground in Cannada ?

Yes, but thats what I was saying is that you need to jump a lot of hoops just be able to set foot onshore.

Ofcourse this boat situation is different and a very complicated issue. Personaly would piss of anyone who has applied through the right channels. I doubt any actual poor or needy could afford the long journey from all the from Srilanka to Canada. Most probaly rich war criminals or fugitives. But we really can't say and that I think is the real moral question and dilemma here.
