Choban Choban:
They don't even have to tax it, just decriminalize personal ammounts and allow people to have say a 5 plant limit to grow themselves, as long as they aren't distributing it no worries and no crime, no government.

I think marijuana is about as retarded as tobacco, yet I dont have a problem with your idea.(edit: actually, I think they should tax it)

Possession would be legal. Location and use would be restricted.

And, the drug dealers and grow ops would remain illegal, not because of the drug but because they refuse to licence themselves in compliance to health canada and FDA regulations like a pharmacy or pharmaceutical company does.

Yeah, I want to see more regulation than you are proposing, and more taxes flowing to the govt from pot. That's what's driving prop 19 in California. Not that they've suddenly become liberal on pot, but that they are desperate for the tax revenue.

Ten years for growing one plant without a license.
And licenses cost one billion dollars. So only RJR Phillips and Imperial Tobacco could possibly afford one.
Anything less would be communist anarchy.

But my guess is the second you did that, every dope smoking, long haired, VW driving, hippie wannabe would be howling about having to pay taxes

So you're saying they would all become Reformacons? I thought you'd like that.

Not at all. The world would be a pretty boring place if we didn't have the entitled for life, left wing lunatic fringe to kick around.

We need this group of malcontents to balance out the yin and yang of Canadian Politics, but just for posterities sake, what does that have to do with smoking dope and trying to avoid taxes?

Are you saying that all dope smokers are Liberals, or all Liberals smoke dope?
If it's the latter, it would go along way in explaining Michael Ignatieff.

I think he's referring to the fact that it is primarily conservatives who complain loudly and longly all day about paying taxes. Sometimes andy forgets that their are hard-right conservatives on this board, so the humour might go right over your head now and then. That's OK, just remember that we're not laughing with you, we're laughing at you.
