Thanks for the clarification. Stats on crime can be misleading, as can all stats. I'm presently reading a book that actually questions if crime is down or just more goes unreported these days. A reporter for the Regina Leader Post sometime back did a lot of (unscientific) asking around and found people seemed less likely to report crimes now as opposed to years ago. Maybe they feel the cops are too busy for little things, maybe certain groups don't want cops involved to keep it to themselves, maybe with the rise of gangs more feel taking a loss on shoplifting outweighs getting the cops involved, maybe some feel the cops won't do or be able to do anything, it really does not matter the reason, but IF less are reporting, then it could look like crime has dropped.
One thing I do know is overcrowding is a problem. A thread came up on here just today about a small riot in a Manitoba Federal Prison that was in protest of "double Bunking" or ( I think) this means twice as many per cell then was intended.
This said, lets be clear, despite over crowding our prisons are still easy time compared to most other countries out there.

canyadoit canyadoit: "I sure hope you're not a native born Canadian, or our educational system is in worse trouble than I thought." How cosmopoitian of you to point out my spelling and grammatical deficiencies. Were Iam from/what I do , spelling and such dose not account formuch at the end of the day. I do understand the point though. The use of proper english has it's merits ; at times. I will endeavour to do some learning up on it. Thanks for the correction. Benn, my point was not well put forth. I was refering to a earlier post above. "well crime is down from everything I read" Which the body of the readings is composed of goverment stats. Thus the word propaganda was used. I was trying to ask , if crime is down, why are rehabilition centers over flowing ? I would think if one is 'down' , so is the other. I personaly see the problem here is the word and defination of reabilitation is the manifesto and has been for far to long. A superiour manifesto to use , correction. Corporal punishment should be used to attain correction. Youth offenders possibility can start by doing public service on the old chain gang. (no gym needed then)Prisons built in the high artic, could be cost effective. Prime time, pay for view capitial punishment for the most heienous of crimes to society. (may fund the correctional programs) This is barely readable.

canyadoit canyadoit: the type seems clear to me, what can you not read? Is my spelling and gramer not correct, what ? Spelling and grammar are below a grade two level. Ideas are muddled and incoherent. I'm thinking english is not your first language.

I'm sorry canyadoit. I'll have the odd spelink mistake but the amount in this post makes it difficult to read and your point gets lost in the errors.
Try using word and cutting and pasting.

Here's a candidate for having his hand cut off like they do in Iran to repeat thieves. Obviously, there's no rehabilitating this one.

I wonder how long you'll be able to keep up the yokel act. Personally I don't find it funny, maybe other's here do - but I guess as long as it's working for you, go for it.

hey man I did not start with the cheap shots, nor have I realy given any out. Make fun at my lack of education, as you did andyt along with others, it is ok . Book learning is not everything in this old world. I learn new things everyday from critters and nature. You ever watch a flock of birds fly togeter, ever seem them crash? How many drivers of cars can state the same? Ever see ants or bees get lost? They got no book learning, get along just fine highly structured socity (coleny) they have.Sure I may not be on par with spelling as most of you all seem to be, but my horse and dog do not seem to care, nor the things of importance to me. I do know one can learn the smartest thing from the dumbest man , and the dumest thing from the smartest man . I also know the educated man is usally to dumb to admit when the make a mistake. But a man how understands himself can admit to a mistake. But hey it is ok I just be a dumb hick. Man I do not even know what yokel is , but it matters little
