The Chinese are well known for this stuff worldwide.

Canadians need to stop worrying about being politically correct and start dealing with issues like this.

We are issuing citizen so easily that anybody can get a blue passport. Some of our 'new Canadians' don't put Canada first on the loyalty ladder.

No more hyphenated Canadians. Become a citizen and renounce any other citizenship.

I am Canadian now (albeit with a Limey accent and attitude). My UK passport expired 5 years ago and I travelled to England the last two times on my Canadian passport.

Twice in 15 years I went over there. I prefer Mexico on vacations. The beaches are better than the English ones.

You get a cookie

Do you mean biscuit?

What's Mandarin for biscuit........

Derby....Merry Christmas.

They often confuse cracker and cookie. As for biscuit, that's something containing raisins or currants, that you spread butter and jam on and serve with tea. You're in Canada, learn to speak English...you bloody wog!!

And why would China recruit college students of Chinese decent? It would be to obvious and a waste because they could just import their own people for cheaper. They don't want Chinese plants in our government they want hooks in white folk.

Because many of them have close family still in China that they care for? Get the picture? Nothing cheaper than blackmail, for the blackmailer.

I'm wondering why it's all about China. Not too much mention has been made of India. After all, maybe they are scoping out the last few call centres left in Canada.

So we will ignore known but hidden crimes because of imaginary but visible ones?

If India has a politician in place to steal the jobs of our telemarketers... As a person who has worked as a telemarketer I must thank that person, from the bottom of my heart.

My statements/comments above really have less to do with racism and moe to do with reality. The fact is, in this country, we are far to accomodating to this immies. Some of them integrate into society, actually take the time to speak the official languages, and contribute.

The majority of them simply take up space and are a general nuisance. Take for example the area in which I live, Thornhill/North York. The ethnic community used to be much smaller. There used to be all kinds of really neat small shops, and a european bakery (all wth signs in english). This was back in the 80's, when I first
lived in the area. Whn I moved back here in the early 2000's, man was I shocked. The plaza I used to frequent was now a Korean plaza, with most signs written entirely in Korean.

One side of Yonge street from Steeles to Finch is now predominently Iranian, again with signs mostly in Iranian. I've gone to each of these places because there used to be one store in both areas that was still from the 80's that I liked. Before these stores left, the way the ethnics acted towards me when I pulled up made me feel like an outsider IN MY OWN FREAKING COUNTRY. Nobody was speaking english, and someone had the gall to push past me. (I pushed back and cussed out the poor bastard).

As far as the natives go, they can speak their languages to their heart's content. I have no quarrel with them as long as they don't start demanding things. They already have the country by the balls. The roadblocks and protests are retarded. If they want change, fine. Tell them to vote like the rest of us at election time.

As for Christmas.....it was always Merry Christmas before we as Canadians started bending over and taking it up th rear because a few ethnic groups started complaining. You know what? If people that immigrate here can't have tolerance for the way their new country of residence works, then perhaps they should leave. I'm sick of these groups/people trying to change things/laws/etc. to suit them because they refuse to assimilate and become proper Canadians. People like these we don't need/want here. I refuse to bow down and give in. If someone gets offended when I say Merry Christmas (and it has happened), TOO BAD. I'm not sacrificing my beliefs to accomodate these ungrateful fools.

Call me whatever you want, but I wear my national pride on my sleeve. I love this country to pieces, and I'm personally sick and tired of watching people spit on her.

The Maple Leaf forever!

Lets face it. We have large groups of immigrants that maintain and cultivate cultural and political links with their countries of origin, in preference to showing loyalty to Canada.

CSIS are just saying what most of us already know.

Scrap dual citizenship. Make the citizenship period 5-7 years.

Bring in a basic but practical language test, written and spoken, in French or English.

Make citizen applicants do a set number of volunteer hours like high school students in Ontario have to do.

Have a probationary citizenship period where criminal convictions of a certain nature, violence etc either reset the probation to day one or citizenship is lost.

During that probation the new citizen will not be able to sponsor other immigrants to Canada.

If our immigrants don’t want to be loyal to Canada, lets encourage them to be loyal.

Canadian citizenship should be more than a personal flag of convenience, which it seems to have become.

1) Only the two official languages can we written/spoken/used. I'm tired of seeing ethnic shops using only their language on signs, some with no english whatsoever. I find this insulting.

Oddly enough I find racism insulting. Personally I have no problem with ethnic shops nor any problem with signs just in their native language since I have yet to see any. They all include english although I will accept the possibility they exist.

Have you ever considered that in addition to english and french (which many people here will happily discount as an official language) we should recognize native languages as well? Seems fair since they were here first.

CDN_PATRIOT CDN_PATRIOT:
2) People wanting to immigrate here MUST learn english, or go back to wherever they came from. Assimilation is key. You want to come here? Fine. Speak the official languages, or else.

Just english? It took you only a single sentence to erase your belief they should learn either official language?

CDN_PATRIOT CDN_PATRIOT:
3) No more of this "Happy Holidays" bullshit at Christmas. The political correctness of ths makes me want to puke. I always say Merry Christmas to people, and don't intend to stop. If some are offended, TOO BAD.I'm tired of this crap. These immies need to be more tolerant of us, not vice versa.

Guess what sunshine. I'm a full blooded Canadian with roots stretching back to the original settlers and I not only support "happy holidays" I might even start demanding it. Who the fuck are you people to tell me what I can and cannot say?

How about I tell you what to say on any other day? On Darwins birthday (12 feb) I demand you say "happy evolution day". I'll think up a shitload more things I'll demand you to say later.

While you are crying about "immies" you had better address while above all countries in the world Canadians expect and demand that all Canadian immigrants to another country continue to acknowledge their Canadianess and Canadian heritage. This is especially true of those going to Hollywood. As a nation we are greatly disappointed whenever our cherished famous people decides to get US citizenship and are offended when they decide to adopt the nation they have immigrated too as their own.

We expect everybody else to do what we vilify when it happens to us.

I don't see scrapping dual citizenship as a guarantee that people still wouldn't be willing to spy for the country they came from, nor does a longer residency period. Not that I'm against either proposal, I just don't see it really influencing too many who come to Canada with the intention of doing something like that.

Really, the best way I see that we might change people's attitudes is with a solid economy and a great place to raise their families. Even that is a long shot at best.

The only way to eliminate such problems (though probably unconstitutional) would be to follow the US lead and not allow the top political jobs (premiers, PM, etc) to anyone born outside of Canada.

Although admirable EB, it won't work.

Witness the thousands of 'loyal' Commies in East Europe who changed over to run
the businesses in a day.

All the paper wont mean a damn thing to a spy, he will sign any paper you
ask him to. The real ones will be in a rush to do it, to prove their 'loyalty'.

It needs a proper immigration system with standards, enforcement
and tightening of immigration laws, and an end to family class.

Then, no foreigner should hold any public office higher than deputy mayor,
nothing in provincial or federal Cabinets, and very limited positions in any
Ministry in Canada.

Scrap dual citizenship
Dual citizenship is not something the "new" country decides you can have. It's the homecountry that decided that.
If you scrap dual citizenship, you are telling Canadians emigrants they can not be Canadian anymore when they take on another citizenship, not the immigrants to Canada to get rid of theirs.
