Now maybe the kid can enjoy playing, just for the sake of the game and take pursue some other intrests in life.....I doubt mom and dad, who are living vicariously through their kid, will allow it though.

Well said ShepherdsDog.. living vicariously is a major problem for young kids who play sports. My sons both played rep hockey and they both went on to coach while going to University. Some parents just can't accept that their kid just doesn't cut it. My oldest had a father threaten to punch his lights out because he pulled the goalie who was his son during a game.. The kid was a seive during the game. Normally he was great in nets but not this game and my son decided to let the back up finish.. The politics was crazy..

These parents need to understand that sometimes your best isn't good enough. That's why we have set standards and tryouts. Idiots.
