The difference comes down to $. The US has some excellent TV Shows, but they are few and far between. You're bound to succeed on occasion when you can start scores of New Shows every year. Here there simply are not the Budgets to start many Shows, so good ones don't come every year, but every Decade or so.

As long as he didn't diss SCTV or the Trailer Park Boys I really don't care.

Forget about TPB. Best Canadian show ever.

Hopefully the successor to TPB, "The Drunk & On Drugs Funtime/Happytime/Whatever Show" will work out just as well as the originator did.

I only half agree. I don't understand why there are two shows about ranchers in Alberta though. That boggles my mind.

I liked Chief Dan George's generic chant for whatever ails you....Ho-te-lo....ho- te-lo-o-wo

Relic's soul was stolen:
Ho-te-lo....ho- te-lo-o-wo

They're in a cursed valley:
Ho-tee-lo....ho-tee-lo-o-wo

The Persephone is out of gas:
Ho-tee-lo....ho-tee-lo-o-wo

Yer calling "Littlest Hobo" crap now? Put up your dukes, buddy!

I don't see why he picks on Canadian TV. 90% of ALL TV is crap. Alberta is getting really Quebeccy these days with their anti-Canadian sentiment.

Quebeccy and Stormfronty....I'm seeing a trend.

In the last week, I've watched about an hour's worth of 'regular' TV(mostly BBC or CNN). Total, about 5....most of which has been on one of the Discovery Channels, History TV or one of the Nat Geo Channels.

The last show I watched was Prime Suspect. BBC I think. Awesome. And there was an HBO one called "The Wire" that was unreal. I did have a soft spot for Corner Gas though I only saw it three or four times. There was a great CBC miniseries a while back about a demented hockey dad--frickin hilarious. That was the only decent thing I ever remember seeing on CBC.

"The Border" is pretty good. So was "Intelligence". I kind of like "The Guard" and "Flashpoint" on the other networks too. But they all only seem to put out 6 - 10 shows a year.

I do enjoy Canadian-produced shows such as the three Stargate series.

I know they are done in Canada (as was Andromeda, wasn't it?) but weren't they all done by American companies?

http://www.canadaka.net/content/page/12 ... -in-canada

They are US companies, but the actors, camera men, set builders etc. are mostly locals.

You aren't kidding. From the article:

$1:
Blackett later said Canadians make a lot of great programming, singling out the CBC program Heartland, which is produced in Alberta

If it ain't Alberta, it's crap.

Hmmm. While the US networks can afford to test a number of shows the fact remains that most of our best shows are being produced, written, filmed, and then cast in Canada by Canadians.

The X Files broke ground as the first major US series to at least have its first few seasons filmed in and around Vancouver but it was preceded by Sliders and a few other worthy but lesser known series.

These days it is not uncommon to watch CSI New York, Law and Order, NCIS, and etc. and to notice exterior shots being done in Canada.

Frankly, without the talent of the Canadians behind it, American entertainment would simply not be as good as it is.
