What is the point of people making virus's? I just don't get it, people who devote there lives on there PC's making virus's and spreading them. What a waste of existance. IMO there needs to be a tougher crackdown on hackers, like send them to the middle east and claim they screwed some muslim mens wives and state we will allow them to be punished by muslim law. That kinda punishment, or send them to North Ireland and dress them up as British soldiers.

8O

Odds are your methods would essentially be a death sentence, for what is essentially break and enter. Yes, it's a crime and they should be punished, but that's far too harsh.

What a dumb fucking thing to say! I hate viruses (just dealt with a doozy in April too), but I wouldn't wish to kill someone for something so silly.

Do you understand the concept of a joke? It is apparent you do not. Why would I wish virus makers death sentences? As well if I was serious, why would I give them sentences like bringing them to a muslim country. Telling them he fucked there wives and allow them to deal with him under muslim law or bring them to Northern Ireland and dress them up like British Soldiers. Does that sound like a serious sentence? EDITED BY MOD

Generally, sarcasm is denoted by one of the many icons/smilies available here on CKA. Like one of these perhaps   :P

Most everyone else here uses them, so when someone doesn't, I assume they're serious. It's not a lack of humour, it's a lack of common sense on your part.

And had I wanted to "pay you back" as you suggest, I would have done so in the Israeli thread.

Noted, in the future when you speak of killing people, I'll assume its sarcasm... :P

(See, like that!)

Oh so sorry bootlegga, I just assumed you had common sense. You know, that thing that allows you to see a comment like dressing them up like British Soldiers and sending them to Northern Ireland a joke rather if I said, hang them or electric chair which is a more common and valid way of killing somebody. You know what I am talking about being you stated I don't have any for making a obvious joke that you diddn't get because I made the as you call it mistake of not adding "smilies" after my jokes.

As for the payback comment, I just assumed this was payback because I honestly diddn't understand how you could take a comment like that seriously. When the death sentences I gave them were completely stupid and nowhere near sounding serious. I'll remember to add smilies for the people with no common sense like you so you can 'get it'. Mmkay?

There is a loooong list of reasons people hack.

Some do it to steal money (bank account info, for example).
Some sell the viruses they make (and they'll sell information like bank info too).
Some do it for activism. ('Hacktivism') Such as 4chan's 'Chanology' movement agaisnt Scientology.
Some do it for influence. (DDOS attacks are commonly used against sites to basically shut them down)
Some do it for patriotism/nationalism. (mostly an Asian phenomenon)
Some do it to show organizations their flaws and are paid to exploit them and explain how to fix them.

And some do it for the Lols.

I can understand stealing money however those are not the most common virus's, neither are stealing information. Most common virus's just do damage to the PC they infect or sometimes infect PC's and use them as hosts to do whatever the maker wants. Like spam e-mails, etc.

These are all chaos tools with no meaning, which I don't get. That's like going up to everybody you meet and just randomly kicking them in the balls. What's the point?

Not completely true, I am not denying there would be a lot of hackers who try and use these skills for profit. However I use to know alot of hackers and some good ones too. Benefit of playing video games with a variety of people over so many years I guess. All of which suprising I found on battlenet, a MP software made by blizzard for StarCraft, Diablo and WarCraft.

When it comes to hacks, those three games are the kings. They got all kinds of hacks for all varieties of things imaginable. Those games are complete litered with them. For some reason they attract hackers from all over. I guess because blizzard is still trying to put up a fight to get rid of them and it's a challenge for them to keep doing it.

All the hackers I have ever known have never done anything for profit, it's always chaos. They would even hack there friends and send them PC destroying virus's for the hell of it. Even if it meant losing that friend. I use to game a lot with clans who all use teamspeak, before vent got popular. All servers were constantly being hacked and shut down or messed up badly. There is nothing to gain from doing this, except chaos. I've seen gaming sites, including some I have made my self all being hacked and contents deleted for no other reason than they could. With a nice FU message.

I've personally never came across anybody that made these things for info or profit.

Yogi Yogi:
herbie herbie:
Why Apple is just leaping up and down to add Flash...
Why I never use IE...
Why I'll fire your ass if I catch you MSNing, Facebooking or using filesharing sites in my office..
Why XP is relegated to a 'curiosity' in my office and you won't ever log on as me.
Why my cafe has Win7 on 2 workstations and you will pay the full hourly rate, whereas you might use one of the Linux boxes all day for only $3 if it ain't busy.

Yogi: Acronis, a Bart disk and an external drive. Setup fresh with all your programs and use Acronis to back it up. If it get whacked, boot with the Bart disk and use Salamader to save all your data to external. Then delete the partition, reboot with your Acronis CD and restore your computer. Scan the backup data, and copy it back.
Update, and you're done.
Way faster than spending days fucking with these latest viruses..
I'm convinced the creators of them are using them as programmer resumes!

Herbie, because my computer knowledge is quite limited, I have to ask "what is a 'bart disc', where do I get one? Will it restore my computer so that I can retrieve my info, or have I lost all on my hd"?
Also, what new computer/ os would you reccomend to replace my existing pc if I choose to go that way? I don't do any gaming. I listen to a lot of music. I have a 'surround sound system' set up to run off my puter. Of course I don't expect to put anything together for $99.00, but I don't want to spend a fortune for something I don't need, or won't ever use.
If my pc can be 'saved', then I had thought about getting an external hd and then downloading and saving everything to that on a daily basis. I really do appreciate your expertise in these matters! [B-o]

Google BartPE, it's just a disk you make that boots up into a very basic WindowsOS with a collection of repair tools on it. Super handy.

You aren't into games but really into music? Buy a Mac if you want to change OS.
Windows7 is fine, but it still isn't a Mac. You turn it on, you use it. Right now, every time. No 20 minute wait Monday mornings to update every goddam thing on it or 5 minutes choosing 'Later" and clicking the screens out of the way. Bouncing icon in the dock, you can ignore it. When you're all done doing your thing there's a screen saying there's updates, wanna install now? If it requires a reboot it says so. Properly. One click, after you've done your thing.
And then there's no are you sure? are you goddam sure? click to install. click to choose default or geek version. Wait. I'm all finished, and another button to click that says the obvious: Done! Another to click to yes or no the reboot.
And you won't go thru what you just did and laugh at everyone shitting bricks about 'latest virus turns your PC into an atom bomb!'

Well, given the rather insane post you made on Page 3 of said thread (which you apologized for but didn't delete), how am I supposed to know which of your crazy ass posts are real and which aren't?

That's why most people here use those smilies...but I guess you're better than everyone else or just 'special'.
