People slip and fall over 1.2 metre railings all the time.

Sorry for offending anyone, but it really distresses me to see an idiot American break the rules at a Canadian attraction that is, IMHO, perfectly safe, and then know that his family will, in typical Californian tradition, sue to make themselves independently wealthy because Capilano didn't anticipate some idiot ignoring all the safety precautions they've very thoughtfully put in place.

In short, I don't want to see this lovely bit of Canada ruined by an act of abject American idiocy.

This isn't California - even if their suit is successful, it won't make them rich. No damages for emotional distress, because the kid was so young, monetary damages for loss of his life will be quite modest. But I doubt if they'd win anyway - no negligence on the part of the bridge owners.
