Let's spend time bitching about stuff that doesn't matter and ignore rampant alcoholism and poor education in our communities.

If only aboriginals could have evolved further than just being called Natives.

I wonder how many "pig" emails are floating around the "aboriginal" email accounts?

I think the police should complain.

Aboriginals arent the government-appointed authority to search, arrest and detain people. Thats the difference.

What the hell does that have to do with the price of eggs?

Nope. This is the thread that has no sense of humour and cries at those who do.

We're in the right place.

I dont know...how are these people supposed to trust the authorities when those same authorities are making these kinds of cracks about them?

If you were a member of the native, would you cooperate with him the next time he wants you to snitch on your neighbours? Would you trust him to investigate your complaints fairly? Would you believe him if he was accused of police brutality against a member of your community?

Community relations are a cornerstone of policing, and this damages the relationship between the department and the Native community.

What the police did was wrong! But, once again why is it "all" natives/indians/
aboriginals or whatever the proper term is used to describe non-white/male/female persons who's birth history can be traced in North American 5-6-7 hundred years ago, all come together to protest these e-mails or any other thing they believe is dis-criminating against them (yes, providing it's legal). Yet! If I, a (white/male)made a stink, protested, closed or barricaded a road, would be charged and thrown in jail so quickly my shoes would be footless.

Sometimes a jokes a joke, but people have to remember that offical internet and e-mail accounts are not private and you should always censor what you do on them. You want to tell jokes do it from home and know your audiance.

Since when are RCMP government appointed? Ya might wanna Google that.

It's called a joke. My doctor jokes with me when I go in to see him too. Should I find a new doctor with NO sense of humour? Does that make him more trustworthy? Gimme a break.

Same as I would if I were Ukrainian, Scottish or Pakistanian. I have some GREAT jokes about them too - shall I forward them to you? (And just for the record - I do have some native in me. You won't see me crying about a freakin' joke circulating, no matter WHO sent it to me, or where it originated, AND I do have several friends who are either RCMP or work in their offices).

This damaged nothing. The only thing it did is open the window to another round of belly achcing, or possibly a potential lawsuit from the natives/aboriginals/indians...whatever you wanna call them. Furthermore - there are native police officers serving (many of which likely thought the joke was amusing), so I really have no idea where you got all of this, but you might wanna get out a bit more.

Cops are accountable, Aboriginals aren't.

Easy target when your as accountable as cops, even if some of them are stupid.

Nobody can hold native behaviour accountable in any way so it's hardly an equitable comparison.

I don't think too many cops are searching or stopping people in Akwasasne or Caledonia eh?

Of course not. They'd be accused of discrimination.

Basically what it all boils down to, is society as a whole has become so shamefully narcissistic, that they will jump on the slightest thread of politically incorrectness to become a victim and soak up all of the attention it brings. It's quite nauseating to witness. People need to get a life, get their noses out of everyone elses, and build backbones again. Quit living the life of a bunch of whining, sniveling, martyrs.

I'm usually down on whatever the natives are whining about now, but in this case they've got a point. There's already the perception that cops are racist and enforce the laws in a biased way. This doesn't help.

The Native community seems to produce way more than its share of scumbags, so I can see the cops getting jaded, but they should at least try to keep up the appearance of impartiality. The cop who wrote this is an idiot, not because he cracked a joke to his mates (we all do it, including the natives) but because he doesn't seem to have learned how easily e-mails get in the wrong hands.

Hmm, hardly call a comment by La Rose or Fox a blanket reaction of Aboriginal folks, more like two guys being asked about something at an event by a reporter trying to make a deadline.

Wait, let me go ask my idiot neighbour their opinion too; that will be just as newsworthy (or not)...

But andy, this guy was held accountable. Police are held accountable and rightly so.

Who's holding the Mohawks in Caledonia accountable? Or the guys in Akwasane?

It's also an 8 year old event. Sounds like muck-raking to me.
