I have never had a downright rude CBSA agent. However, with only one exception, everytime I go to the States I get a surly border guard, and that includes the ones at airport pre-clearance sectors in CANADIAN airports. Sometimes I have wanted to say "You're a guest in this country. Act like it. I know you have to do your job, but at least you're not slinging hash in some Detroit shit-house."

I've even experimented to see if I get better treatment when presenting a U.S. Passport. Nope. It's even worse. They grill you twice as hard. A US guard in Buffalo straight up asked me if I had any narcotics as he put on the blue latex gloves. It was literally the second thing he asked me after 'where were you born'?

Only made that mistake once. And as far as my U.S. passport goes, I don't plan on ever renewing it.

On the other hand, when coming back to Canada, I'm more often than not greeted with a 'welcome home', after which I just feel like kissing the ground and saying 'THANK GOD I'M CANADIAN!'

Seriously, if it weren't for the fact that I have family in the States, I probably would never go there again.

In following what Mac writes, there is a black lady who works as a US prescreener in the Ottawa Airport, she is HELL to deal with, I was travelling to Norfolk one time with a green passport and NATO travel order and she ripped me to shreds. Very ignorant and short when I was nothing but polite and compliant.

I hate crossing the border.

I always have the worst luck with the Canadian guards...except for Niagara Falls. I think it's different there though because it's a huge tourist destination. I never have bad luck with coming into the US. Usually it's just a few question and I'm off.

Every time I came into Canada the last few year I have always gotten searched. The worst was cross Detroit/Windsor. These two chick were total bitches towards us.

"Please park you car there"
-Guards

"Oh well the guy told me to park here"
-Me

"WELL I'M TELLING YOU TO PARK THERE"!
-Guards

I was kind of in shock. As the two chicks were smiling and laughing with each other as they came walking to the car. When we were being interrogated the guy didn't believe that we were going to a small theme park for the night. He asked every question possible and in the end he was like "Well then how come I have never heard of this place"?

It's a good thing I don't cross if for work everyday. That would bug the shit out of me.

I guess I'm lucky. I've been treated professionally by both sides every time.
