After watching some Youtube videos of the "game", it looks pretty lame. Almost not "Rape" at all, but I didn't see a video showing that part of the "game". So it could be essentially rape.

bootlegga bootlegga:
Japanese men are of course the gropers (hence the female only trains), but Japanese in general have a far more liberal view towards sex than most Westerners. 'Chikans' are a fringe element of Japanese sexual society, just like some of the kinkier stuff is here. Things like cosplay are far more common than chikans. Keep in mind, that gropers on the subway are not a Japanese only phenomenon.

I never said they didn't have more liberal attitudes towards sex, but at the same time, I can't fully agree that there isn't some shame and sin related to sexual behavoir. If there was no shame/sin/morality issue, then women wouldn't care about being groped, no?

Wouldn't that be reported rapes? Like Bart said, the various attitudes over shame and public humiliation could easily impact the reporting of rapes in some countries.

Women care about being groped not because of shame, but because it's sexual assault and they are powerless victims (I would imagine in much the same way most men would prefer not to be mugged).

Like I said, sin (as Westerners describe it) is not part of Shinto or even Buddhism. Japanese women I sure feel remorse for their actions on occasion (not unlike women here who regret one-night stands), but pre-marital sex is not considered as big a deal as it used to be here.

Abortion for example is a totally different social issue in Japan. While we struggle over the right and wrong of it, most Japanese don't. Many Japanese women feel regret or even deep sorrow for aborted fetuses, and put up Jizo statues in one of the hundreds of temples around Japan dedicated to that purpose. I've been to temples in RURAL Japan with hundreds (if not thousands) of Jizo statues set up.
