Caledonia is not in Nova Scotia nor does the actions of warriors in Ontario have any bearing on the actions of white power crusaders. The actions may be fomented in too much beer but then that would fizzle in a simple bar fight. They were made an example of.

Canada is huge but three quarters of the Canada's population lives within 90 miles of the U.S. Border. That's a LOT of wide open spaces where ideas like these can take root. We could be 300 million and still have this problem.

They caught them but as you can see from the headlines Nova Scotia has a lot of skeletons in the closet when it comes to the black history and there are loads of people who are fed up with 'black history month' and have a huge chip on their shoulders concerning it. Burning a cross is their way of being heard.

I don't have the patience to watch the video. A google found lots of headlines that referred to the Africville expropriation. As long as fair value was paid, I don't see what the fuss is about now. But, as near as I can determine, no money is being paid to individuals anyway, so I'm not sure where the 3 mill is going.

It's the same with the head tax. Sure, it was racially based. But the Chinese who came paid it willingly, because it was still a better deal than staying at home. So no compensation should have been paid now. I wonder how racially neutral China's laws were in those days. But if we didn't want Chinese to immigrate in those days, why didn't we just say so. Our immigration policy had a racial basis until Pearson instituted the point system anyway.

Good for you. I'm not sure what you mean by their impatience - they were uprooted and it was 50 years ago. We've got farmers in BC who lost their land to plans that were never followed either. They're not getting any apology or 3 mil. But then, they're mostly white, would be my guess. Expropriation happens, and as long as fair value was paid, too bad, so sad.

I think what has happened is the folk of Halifax have long thought that they weren't paid fair value and they weren't treated fairly. That's why the extra they are getting now to try and make up for what was unfair at the time. Not everyone is comfortable with the "too bad so sad" mentality, maybe especially in Nova Scotia.
