Theres no way Harper is spending tens of thousands out of his own pocket, and if he were stiffing other people with his travel expenses, we'd have heard of it.

And you know either of these things...why?

Because I have a brain.

Or you have a personal vendetta against Harper? He stayed in a few middle-class hotels, and he used hotels.com to get deals on the high end ones. Unless you have proof the newspaper "bungled" that number, you're speaking solely from your anti-Conservative bias.

A day room? hmmmm sleezy is as sleezy does... lol... most people use day rooms for afternoon delights..

 Dayroom; conference room; A room big enough to accomodate 20 or more people for business meetings. Standard equipment includes telecom services, satellite, usually one very large 'center table' with room for several side tables. Kitchenette fascilities. Most motels/hotels have these available to guests as well can be rented by others. Prebooking advised.

or;

He could have booked at the Banff Springs hotel, and paid all the expenses to get everyone there. But that would have meant a lot less $$$$ to send to Quebec! Make up your mind. You can't have it both ways!

If you really believe he rents rooms at the Super 8, I understand why you support him.. you haven't got a clue.

It's pretty fuckin slim pickins out there, but then we couldn't expect you to see passed your blinders! And if 'having a clue' meant 'thinking like you', then I'm proud to be clueless!

Kenmore is likely confusing the dayroom with those little booths he frequents....with a pocket full of change.

No, Im speaking from an "experience with money and travel" bias.

Use your common sense, man. He's the Prime Minister of Canada, the second largest land mass on the planet. His job requires him, his personal staff and security detail to travel across it extensively, to have access to facilities like high-speed internet, make countless long-distance phone calls and give all kinds of diplomatic and other types of gifts to hosts or guests. Then you have to think about dry cleaning, meals, incidentals, etc for him and his entourage. He could not even travel Ontario on $2k. Just how much of a deal do you think hotels.com gives you anyway? What are they renting luxury rooms for 5 bucks a piece?

Also re-read the article and do the math:
$1:
According to the documents obtained by Ottawa researcher Ken Rubin, Harper spent $51,645.68 on hotels and hospitality within Canada between April 2007 and August 2009.

Nearly $15,000 of that was for Harper’s visit to the President’s Cup golf tournament in Montreal, where he was the honorary chair of the contest. The proceeds from the event are handed out to a selection of charities chosen by the participants.

For the 2007 tournament, Harper spent $4,674 on books to give as gifts to players and coaches at the charity event and close to $10,000 on food and hotel and function rooms.

It doesnt take an "anti-conservative bias" to realize that every number in those 3 paragraphs is larger that $2k, does it?

Thats more than the whole year figure quoted at the bottom of the article.

Oh hell, based on those figures I'd say that Harper's hotel and hospitality expenses within Canada are actually MORE than reasonable. He ONLY spent $51.6k in just under 2 1/2 years?? And $15k of that was spent on a charity event. And this is an issue, or even news?
Well maybe news in the sense that a PM isn't blowing it on self-serving interests or the interests of good friends for a change.
