Palin's speech was hard news, and current events. The tea party convention even had a massive mainstream media presence. It was covered on their nightly news. Even the Obama-biased CNN aired the whole speech, and had a panel comment afterwards.
There's a box you can uncheck in the news submission here if it is not Canadian news.
Too often these "doesn't belong here" comments actually mean "this does not support my side of the argument".
Discussions on American politics belong in "American politics", not "current events", IMO. Discussions on Sarah Palin belong in the popcorn playhouse super thread of nonesense.
As an opinion, that's one, and as is often said, everybody's got one. Personally, I'd take that particular one more seriously if I ever saw it also expressed in say one of those Palin-bashing threads.
As concerns rules of the board however that is not the way it's done. There is a clearly marked category, when posting news here in the larger current events category labeled, "Uncle Sam".
And as concerns the fact Palin was paid as keynote speaker for the tea party convention...her claim is the money will be put back into a fund for supporting the movement. No doubt that means the movement as she sees it, but nevertheless there you go.
