Khadhr does fit the definition of a child soldier,

No, he doesn't.

Please give me his rank, serial number, and unit
that he was fighting with, according to official army records.

He is no soldier.

He's a terrorist.

Yep, isn't it terrible that this is all Harpers fault eh andy? You are becoming quite the partisan voice on here.

Where did I say it's Harper's fault? It certainly is Harper's responsibility to deal with, and the court is limiting his options more and more. Proroguing this one just won't work.

Maybe we should have a public enquiry like the Somalia one?

You know, the one that was stopped when it got to the bits that might look bad on Chretien. He prorogued Parliament to stop it in 1997.

"When you can prorogue without the nation noticing, it will be time for you to go, Grasshopper."

Doubt if the Supremes will give him the latitude for that.

And that's why this won't lose any votes that were Tory.

The great gnashing of teeth on this comes from the Lib and NDP voters who would never cast a ballot for anybody remotely blue.

But, this has still turned into a cluster.

On that wanker Khadr. The SCC can say what it wants, public sympathy outside the jihadists of Brampton and Mississauga, is zero for this guy and his family.

The more imporant part of the ruling is that the SCC said that the courts can't interfere in foreign policy and force the government to repatriate people like Khadr, which is a win for everyone who wants to keep that little puke out of our country for as long as we possibly can. The ephemeral little slap to the government's pee-pee over some silly "rights violation" is of much smaller consideration than the fact that the courts can't force themselves into foreign issues. Which is terrific, because I'm sure that there's more than enough far-leftwing "anti-war" slime and certain, cough-cough, ethnic groups inside of Canada that would love the opportunity to abuse the courts in order to promote ridiculous war crimes charges against federal political leaders.

P.S.: Vote Quimby. And fuck Omar Khadr.

Agreed. We went throught this whole "Omar the Child Soldier" defense months ago and according to the UN this asswipe doesn't qualify as a child soldier.

A quote from the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child:

$1:
"State parties shall take all feasible measures to ensure that persons who have not attained the age of 15 years do not take a direct part in hostilities." However, children who are over the age of 15 but still remain under the age of 18 are still voluntarily able to take part in combat as soldiers."

So his apologists will have to come up with another reason why he was holidaying in Afghanistan with Pop's.
