Well as I read that this is making international news, to me it seems as though we have officialy invited all extremist groups to now come to Canada to carry out there work and get their "message" out by way of terrorist strikes in Canada. Lets be honest, these are people that have no problem carrying out suicide missions, so don't you think that a pathetic little sentence in a Canadian prison as the only deterrent from committing such acts is really going to keep them from trying it if that is all they have to worry about?
No way, they can bomb Parliment/Sports stadium whatever, if they get caught, do 10-15, get out and return to Tafuckistan with god status.

What the media missed is the double time credit for pre-trial,
easy parole and extra time off that they will get.

In Canada, life means bout 15 years.

Maybe you should call the Dutch media and straighten them out B.

Well when the choice is death to complete a mission, or complete the mission and get a pitiful sentence only to return to the streets to do it again, well you be the judge. When LIFE means LIFE, maybe the thought of 30-40 years of having their stool pushed for them and no chance of ever getting out to blow up a junior high school again does not look so good.

I don't think suiciders are thinking on that level. Hell even your average criminal isn't thinking about it when he's doing his crime. The US has the death penalty, and still plenty of people there do things that make them eligible for it.

But, these guys weren't suiciders. I'm glad he got life, and being eligible soon for parole doesn't mean he will get it. I do worry about all the positive things being said about him tho, that he's little danger in the short term, etc. I hope the parole service has the balls to keep him in a good long time. But, as we know, that's not likely.

The penalty for high treason is life imprisonment. The penalty for treason is imprisonment up to a maximum of life, or up to 14 years for conduct under subsection (2)(b) or (e) in peacetime.

UNfortunatly your laws don't provided for the penalty for what this individual desirves. He hhouls be shot and smeared with pigs blood; unfortunatly that would not be PC.

I applaude CSIS for preventing what would have been a very ugly mess.
