I can't believe the extreme cynicism of Harper's comments. He has his head totally screwed on backwards. This is now a case of the opposition's face hitting Harper's fist. If he thinks that his actions have anything to do with democracy, he will have to face a confidence vote in March, and there will likely be an election. In thinking he could avoid those things happening, he has created the very conditions to make them happen.

Let the people speak.. and they will, thousands have shown disgust and disdain over harper's autocratic style of running ( or not) the country. The word will be anything but tory in the next election. People are tired of the spoiled brat taking his cronies and running when there is too much heat in the kitchen...

It's not my first choice, but I think a Liberal minority could be in the works unless Harper can do some serious backpedalling and someone can pry his feet out of his mouth.

I think a 3-way split for the left vote is going to give Harper another minority. Maybe the Greens will get a seat or two out of disgust for the Liberals and NDP, but that will be about as exciting as it gets.

Nothing will change because Iggy is not going to force an election anytime soon, unless his numbers jump quite a bit.

Akhenaten Akhenaten: Because then the bloody Queen couldn't tell you what to do. Man is she pushy. Pure monarchy undiluted by democratic bullshit is looking better and better with each fucking day that passes.

Problem with you is you're too smart. You're like the normal kid that accidentally got put into the retard class. No wonder you spend a good part of your existence going "WTF?"

Ever hear of Science 11? It was a retrograde gathering for those ignorant dope-smoking headbanger types who did shit in grade 9 science. Well, I got stuck in it in Grade 10 as a reward for not giving a shit in Grade 9. Oy, the things I saw in that class! Scared me sorry arse straight for the rest of high school. (80% average in Chem 10/20/30 after that).

How would it be forced by the Liberals? They didn't prorogue Parliament two weeks ago, Stephen Harper did. If the opposition calls a no-confidence vote, it is because Stephen Harper has forced their hand to do so.

IMO the current feeling is that the Liberals only refused to push the non-confidence button this long because they haven't seen a significant bump in the polls. No point forcing an election you're going to lose. I think this will be the mindset should an election come about. The finger will be wagged at Harper for the prorogue(s) and the other finger will be wagged at the liberals for spending the year looking for faux scandals to bump the polls up high enough to launch Iggy into an election. Another "none of the above" election will result and statistically the incumbent has the advantage when the mood is like that.

The next session starts with a budget vote. Budget votes are always a confidence vote. If the Liberals truly believe that the prorogue that has shocked the nation ( lets remember the stats: Chretien 4 prorogues, Trudeau 10 progrogues) then the Libs can take him to task at the first available opportunity, the budget. Or are you guys all just full of it?
