Clean water in BC.

just ask Mr Floatie

True, Victoria has a debate about sewage. Apples and oranges really when comparing the permanent poisoning of fresh water in the oil sands project and the potential poisoning of sea water off the coast.

Keep making your irrelevent arguments though.

How about the BC government allowing mining companies to turn natural lakes into tailings ponds, is that close enough to apples to apples. ROTFL

Zip tried to raise an argument about CO2 emissions and quickly tried to switch it to fresh water usage so :P

I wasn't even talking about global warming though. Mostly the fresh water use. Did they at least stop pumping it underground yet?

By all means, the fresh water usage for the oil sands is relevent as that water is lost for human consumption. Comparing it to Victoria's debate on whether to pump sewage into the Straits of Juan de Fuca or to treat it and ship it off to a dump simply demonstrates desperation in failing your argument.

I know you like to give me credit for everything, maybe you should go back and read the whole thread.

Yogi [i] Hello 'pot', this is 'kettle'. On the subject of 'clean water'. Take a look at what B.C., and Atlantic Canada does to 'clean water'![i]

Irrelevent. You brought up the topic of sewage going into salt water as a counterpoint to a discussion around the loss of fresh water.

You accused me of bringing up the freshwater issue,I didn't. It wasn't until you went back and actually read the whole thread you realized you were wrong. So it was time to move the goalposts.

Zip brought up the subject of 'clean water'. 'I' was responding directly to that! And yes, A.R. pointed out a perfect example of 'the pot calling the kettle black'. Thanks A.R. [B-o]

The mine that was going to do this (Kemess North) was turned down by the federal and provincial governments. Now there's another outfit looking to do the same in William's Lake, but they still have to present their case to a asessment panel.

So far as I know it hasn't happened yet in BC.

And, yes, contrary to what gigs says, we have a carbon tax already. Heck, you name it, we got a tax for it!

Actually, I accused you of making an irrelevent argument with respect to your example.

Sorry you have some comprehension difficulties here, I`ll try my best to be more understanding.

"Trumpeting Alberta's green credentials." That's pretty funny actually.

That's not really fair man. We lead the way in a lot of areas, even in terms of action on the oil sands production. Recycling. Wind power. Geothermal. We do a lot.

ASLplease ASLplease:
I dont understand this 'oilsands emmisions' nonsense, if the east thinks that Alberta is send out too much emissions, just what the hell do they think happens when the oil hits the consumers all over North America?

Actually when you read a CO2 emissions calculation for the oil sands, 4/5ths of that calculation IS end user. i.e. what comes out of tail pipes and factory chimneys. That's the problem with 'dirty' oil.
