You could be right.
The sad part is that we, by accepting in the name of equality, lower standards and conduct for admission and retention in the RCMP, helped create this monster, that seems more than willing to taser first, and asks questions later, rather than risk personal injury.
Call me old school but, if it was me I'd prefer sore wrists and a road rash on my face over 50,000 volts ...............four times, before someone checked to see if was still breathing and I'm pretty sure Mr. Dziekanski would feel the same if he were still here.
I don't think size is the cause of increased taser use. There were four cops in this case, and some of them were fair sized. They tasered the guy because it was easier and acceptable. Then they lost their shit, tasered him some more and covered it up.
Your probably right, but the mounties seem to be hell bent on not touching anybody they have to deal with which leads me to believe that it isn't just size that's the problem it's policy.
I've spoken to a couple of mounties and they said that because of the outcry from a vocal minority and the potential for personal injury whenever they physically take a suspect down they try and avoid it at all costs.
So if that's true what does it say about RCMP policing standards, when they're more than willing to taser the shit out of someone rather than use physical force that may result in a personal injury or an angry public?
